margaret lake access

Last time I was on the trunk road in waiprous, the highway was closed before the turnoff to get to Margaret lake. Anyone know if it is still closed?

Last summer had a few great rides out there with lots of riders. Hope to get one in before it is too late.

The road narrows to 1 lane (briefly) just beyond the bridge at Mountainaire.

Roads are open to Limestone Mountain.

Some form of dust control stuff has been applied to the Trunk Road. Hardly any dust, and some stretches are almost like pavement.

Great news about the trunk road opening again

Limestone mountain and Margaret lake are back on the list of rideable rides. Better get them in before it is too late.

I didn't get many chances to post up a meeting place then ride with as many people who show up. Maybe in September, Margaret lake was one of my favorite rides last year.

Been to Wiaparous falls yet?

Not exceptional for a ride, but still nice to get that in while you can. Easier riding than Margeret lake. One significant stream crossing though but with low water it's not an issue. Don't attempt if high water. It's at the turnoff of Wiaparous valley trail (?) when you start heading back on the cutline towards Margaret Lake. Instead you cross the stream and follow that to the end.

Yup!

That's when it's low and no issues.

When high, it will float a bike away with ease.

Anybody heading out for rides this weekend? It's supposed to be really nice and I don't want to miss out! :)

PM me if anyone interested. I'm on a KTM 690 enduro.

If people want to make a stop and watch the starts, there is the Dirty Moose race going on Sunday at Fallen Timber camp ground.

Riders meeting at 10:30 I think, classes set off shortly after that. XC event so not a lot to view after the starts, they'll be gone for awhile.

I'm probably sweeping. Racing doesn't lend well to a damaged knee.

I'm up for a ride if you don't mind a S10 slowing your enduro down. She's got TKC80's on so is happy in the dirt but prefers double track to single track. I'm far west of the City.

This weekend

I might have time for a trip out past Bear Berry Saloon if anyone is interested. I am a former street turned ADV rider and could use someone to ride a few fun trails with.
I hope to have time on Sunday afternoon at some point if I get my other work done!

Margaret Lake Saturday

Hi, anybody want to head out to Margaret Lake tomorrow. ?

For degree of difficulty, I know a guy rode it on a vstrom last year. So if you have something equivalent or more dirt oriented and don't mind getting it dirty it should be good.

10:30 at timmies in Cochrane?

I'm up for it. Never been out to Margaret Lake so why not. I'll be on the blue S10. See you at Timmies...

Margaret Lake ride video

http://youtu.be/DzmV3YxJmrM

Here is a video of guys going through a mud hole at the bottom of a hill. I remembered it being one of the trickier parts of the ride, but that is only if you skip the very last hilly part of the ride to the lake. Thanks for joining the ride, always better to have company in case something goes wrong. (Like the bike not starting, or a tip over)
