A.F.D.C.D.S.R 1 (Part II)

Well after I got home Sunday, I did some chain maintenance and resupply and Monday morning headed north, joined this time by Floss&Fly.

We met up at Tim's in Cochrane and wound our way north west of Water Valley to Harold Creek road and then west to the 940. After playing chicken with logging trucks on the narrowest section of the road we blasted north to Ram Falls. After ram falls we stopped at Nordegg for sustenance (for both bikes and men). Floss had to get home so I rode with him to Caroline, before parting company and camping at Burnstick Lake. I was the only camper there, so I amused myself with photo experiments(with various degrees of success).

Had not changed at all after the floods.

Hand held and not steady enough. Still liked it though.

Great way to spend 4 days in Alberta. It was a bit disappointing for fall colors, but that comes with the territory.

Nice shots Lycan1! I took a few photos but usually my camera(phone) was too dusty or muddy to see anything! I'm still trying to figure out how to upload them.

I'm looking forward to your GoPro video...

Tried to get to the DC3 crash site but there is one bloody steep hill that proved too much for our big bikes. Headed home via dutch creek and saw your group at the 5km mark of the road off 940. Did you try the 532? We did the Gap road. Great Weather for a weekend ride. I'll have to find a way to post some pics.
I remember, but only noticed the Kawi, what was the other bike? No 532, we came in from the Gap road.

Glad you could come for awhile, damn you are fast on gravel! We didn't touch 532.

Glad you could come along and had a good time. The pictures are fine. I was hoping someone got one of me doing the planks....

Go Pro video is uploading now. It will make your teeth hurt watching, it's so bumpy going along that trail.

One more pic of the quad bridge. That is one beautiful road.

Does anyone have gps files of the route from Fernie (Hosmer area) over the hill to the Corbin Road and up to Crowsnest Pass? That is the route we attempted to take but ended up getting turned around too many times on the maze of logging roads and gave up to save daylight.

The picture of those planks is even scarier than your description at Tim Hortons. Wouldd seem easy riding 2 planks on the ground, must have takes some nerve to cross them with the penalty for screwing up so severe.

I would have taken the water crossing.

Life is full of bad decisions that we manage to get away with. They make good stories later. The Video is up now.

Coal creek goes over to Corbin rd and up to Crowsnest. Coal Creek starts in Fernie. Pops out close to the "yellow gates" if you snowmobile.

Thanks for posting those pics Paul.

There were so many great trails between fernie and Coleman to take but so little knowledge of which ones go through. Someday we'll get smaller lighter bikes and hit up that area again with more time.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's had issues with STUPID Rotopax spout.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=816396

For any future purchasers of rotopax be sure to get the "international" spout.

Right Lycan1?

Limestone Monday 23 Sept

Let me know if you are in. One of my friends and his KLR plan to join us. Where do you want to meet as we are coming from the Bearberry (Sundre) direction. We could meet at the Bearberry saloon to start?
Let me know if you guys can squeeze this ride in! Any other takers welcome.
Sorry, been off the grid for a few days (busy!)

Love the pictures that have been posted over the past week. Great rides guys! Jealous...

Sadly, I can't go Monday. I get the odd Friday off, but it is rare; plus then I need to procure full-day child care. Teaching mornings and doing 'daddy daycare' in the afternoons, coaching almost every night so most likely weekend only rides for me now... Not sure what is up this weekend yet. Running race Sun morning for the kids, otherwise...? Dirt biking? Dual Sporting? Fall cleanup? Will know closer to the weekend...

That trip looked awesome dudes! Kinda sad I'm out in the field and missed it... Probably a blessing in disguise though as my broken kneecap is healing nicely now. Every time I see my old Dakar I miss it, but it makes me happy to know it's still being ridden properly by where2next, Maybe next time another 990 will tag along and get dirty, ;)

Thanks for the pics!

Question Custom Seats in Calgary?

I am looking for somebody who does custom seats locally. Put 800+km on two weeks ago and am still sore. The discomfort starts about an hour into a ride and even with breaks and standing up it's with me through the day.
Don't really want to go with an out of the box aftermarket, a bit of a crapshoot. Full support for my skinny butt is the way to go.
There is a small window to get this done, headed to SA in December, so someone local that I can see in this riding season would be the answer.
There are a few places popping up with an online search but I would like to hear from anyone out there with any experiences in this part of the world. I bookmarked a thread on here about someone who did this on a reservation basis but have lost it and can't seem to find it searching.
Thanks
