The most common leak is from the gear position sensor "O" ring. Very easy fix. I have not looked at the video link, since I'm on my phone typing this.

Cool. It looks like it is coming from that area possibly. It's above the kickstand and toward rear of skid plate and up.

Have you done it before? Shocked anything is leaking already. I've had a small puddle ( size of a quarter or so. )

Just took another look properly with the bike lifted and it seems to be it. Do you know if Blackfoot stocks em?

I'm fairly certain they do. I did mine a couple of years ago. They go through a lot of heat cycles, and seem to need replacing every couple of years.

Another hour in the garage to do this

Installed some Footman Loops on my Jesse panniers. Don't know why they wouldn't add them as a standard feature. I had them on my Happy Trail panniers and used them all the time. Easy to install after you get over your case of nerves about drilling holes in your "Brand Spanking New, Very Expensive" panniers. Cheers, David

The V-Strom is extremely tractable and can almost anywhere easily. My riding partner is on his 3rd skid plate...this one a 1/4" steel after destroying two 1/4" Al units. The V-Strom is limited on clearance and this is an issue. The stock cast rims are an issue. The front rim on my riding partners rim is dented quite badly, but continues to hold air somehow.

Bottom line, the V-Strom may not look it, but it is capable. It is low and easy to ride. You can get a foot down. It puts out very tractable power, and generally is better at the slow going than my 990. My 990 is still the besets everest in the world, in the love-hate sort of way....
I totally agree with Trav. I wouldnt ride woops or ever want to jump the Strom like Trav and I do on our motorcycle mechnics training courses (990ADV) but its no slouch. Heck, 95% of people have no idea what a bike will do, I've taken my VFR800 on some rocky trails (poor trip planning too) with no issues. Trav, you should've seen Kris riding baby heads on his VFR to get onto the beach in Halifax. Hilarious!

Rode out of the South Ghost staging area yesterday. It's a tough slog on the trails... very deep snow in places. I think I'll wait for a bit more melting before getting back out on the studs.

Finally finished my shift. I have 6 more days to get a ride or 2 in. Anyone been out to the reservoir recently? Is it a mess?

Laugh Got Out!

For a quick 100km blast today. Pavement only though. Some of the SE back roads were clear and dry. Bike is still clean.

Ccm gp450

Hey All,
As we poor Calgarians missed the Albertan debut of CCM's new bike at the show (Edmonton got it the dirty buggers...) they are showing it off Monday night for us. I'd like to think my inquiry across the pond to CCM Headquarters brought about this special showing but I doubt my influence is that great... I did like that both CCM (UK) and OMS had their responses to me in less than a day.

The bike GP450 is going to be about $12000 give or take.

email convo below.

Hello Paul, the bike will be here at the shop between 6 and 9 pm , Monday evening Jan. 27th
cheers,
Jeff

Come down and see our selection of classic bikes.

Good afternoon
I emailed the guys at CCM to see where we could get a look at their new GP450 bike.
Alice Flook and Michael Wells (both in the UK I think) gave me your info and said that the bike was planned to be shown off on the 27th at your shop.
What time are you having the preview event? There will be three of us interested in coming over.
Thanks
Paul
