The Mountains

Beautiful day for exploring some two-tracks. This lake bed was amazing. I started trekking across it to short-cut a road I saw on my Garmin. Some fences and Cactus soon made me turn around after a mile.

A shameless plug for my site. (It's the same content that I put here)

The Roads today.

And then I get to this one. The kind Fellows at Bicimapas.com suggested that I take this road to get back to civilization. Hmm...

Detour time.

The only color for miles

I noticed it was cold for being 10 in the morning. Oh, We aren't at sea level anymore. Makes sense.

This was one of the nice ones I ran across today. The others wanted to use me as a Frisbee

Around one, I stop in a small village and wonder over to a lady. I start speaking Spanish with my hands, and I get across that I am hungry. She says the word Burrito along with a slue of other, but I stick with Burrito. She comes out of her house 2 minutes later with 7 Bean Buretto's I ask her Cuanto cuesta. She says de nada. I owe her somthing. I can't take it for free, so I fish out 5 Pasos and hand it to her. She is reluctant, but takes it with a big smile. This is the Mexico I was looking for. This is her family.

Where am I now?

Free hot water I guess.

I found this dead snake on the way into town Does anyone know what kind it is?

That's it for today. Tomorrow is going to be one heck of a ride.

165 miles across the mountains, all offroad, no fuel stops.
I'lll be going from Concepcion del Oro (south of Saltillo) to Juan Aldama.

Right, I have a fair read on people. I new it was time to jet. There was even a cop in the square, but I just didn't like it. When I was mounting my bike he said, Oh look real quick and pointed behind me at the street. My eyes never left his.

Good luck, man..you're pretty ballsy riding this trip alone...especially since you seem to be drawn to the unusual...be safe.

update on the stool. The last three have progressively gotten softer and softer. I think the 7 free Burritos from that lady in the desert may be my demise. I'll keep you updated.

It looks like a King Snake. Its easy to mistake for a rattler when you first get surprised by it. They don't have the evil diamond shaped head of pit vipers or the tail rattles of the rattle snakes, in fact they eat other snakes.
