I haven't done a test to compare the heat of the flame, but the rubbing alcohol burns very dirty.

Just wondering if one were to have this stove in a location where gas line antifreeze wasn't needed and therefore not for sale, what else could be used for fuel?

Yeah. I know. Stoopid questions and I could wade through 25 pages but I also want to ask if anything is in stock right now.

I keep my raw materials on hand so I can have stoves out the door usually in a day or two. Heading out to the shop to make some up tonight.

I just sent you a payment for a SimmerStove. I bought the regular one from you about a month ago, and I really love it. Super simple, and it works very well. My favorite kind of gear. Now that I've had a chance to user the regular stove, I'm sure the Simmer Stove will be very useful to have when camping too.

Thanks!
Shawn

How about Costa Rica? Keep in mind I'm flying down so carrying it isn't really an option these days.

I don't know about Costa Rica.

Report back and let us know!

(it may not burn as clean, but the 95%+ rubbing alcohol will work. But it will stain yoru cookware a bit.)

My vote is denatured alcohol. I should be easy to find in a hardware store anywhere you go. It is less toxic than the methyl alcohol in Heet. I found this out while playing with it on my stove in my apartment. The fumes from the Heet seem to give me a little headache.

I have been asked about cooking a hunk of meat over this stove. So I did a little test today, and put the details at the tail end of my first post of this thread.

Thanks for the write up on the burger cooking Shady. I'll keep your experience in mind if I ever try cooking meat with one of my stoves.

While I was at Walmart today I noticed that the four bottle packs of Heet were marked down to $3. Individual bottles were still $1.37 each though. I only picked up a pack. Might be worth your time to walk down the automotive aisles if you're in the store and want to stock up.

Question

Steve, this is a really cool little product!

Quick question: can you light one with one of these? (sorry if this has been answered before...)
