Again, Sorry to have to change the date, espiscally to those that will not be able to re-arrange their schedules. I glad that some warm bodies are still interested.

I think I have posted the date change to all but the 2009 ride calendar and I can not find where that thread is, or how I posted there in the first place, if you would not mind posting the link again I will change it there also.

Charlie

Don't forget your Promise

YOU pormise to practice your dszert SKills on April 17th-19th at Spangler Hills.

All you need to do is just follow the Signs: This is the first skill tested.

They will be marked on a route: don't forget that a sign on the right side of the road means turn right and a sign on the left side of the road means turn left.

You can typically ride out there until May/June. Forget about July/August.

Be advised, Bean Cyn is going to be under intense scrutiny in the coming months. Its been illegal for years, and now, apparently they are starting to do something about it.

Let's plan couple more dez rides until June then....

Charlie, do you think we'll be able to do a ride to California City on Sunday to check this structure out? If not, I would be interested to do another dez ride to Cal City sometime before the weather heats up and the gas price goes skyrocketing again.

Sorry about being MIA, I had a few computer problems, but it is sorted out now (hopefully)

Joel,
I usually ride out in the desert until late May and then head up into the higher elevation. Day time temp are usually mid 80's but it can get up to about 100 degrees is the afternoon, but it stills cools down at night 50 degrees or so. Just bring extra water to soak in and don't forget the shade.

I was planning a ride from camp to Randsburg and then out to Cuddleback Dry Lake and around Red Mountain and back to camp, That mining structure can be easily added as a stop, it is located just outside of red mountain and can be seen from 395. This ride will have some sandy trails/woops that aren't too tough and there are plenty of bailout options. Round trip mileage in the nighborhood of 50 miles.

Here is a pic of the rig, it should be the only one like it out there, Me and my dad will be arriving Thurs afternnon for anyone wanting to extend the weekend. Spangler Hills OHV area is legal for all machines so bring those green/red stickered bike, quads,
and all family members. There is a public restroom near camp (walking distance), but besides that it is primitive camping, no water or similar amenities, just find us, pull up and pick a patch of desert and setup camp.

The picture will get you an idea of the type of camping. There will be an outdoor kitchen setup for those that need it, there will be 2 to 3 coleman stoves, and lantrens, pots and pans, and coffee made every morning. There will also be an extra ice chest w/ice but bring your own plates and silverware and cups.
