USA Grand Prix
Is anyone going? I am driving out with a friend on Wen. I can not wait to the pit walk through on Thurs. I would like to take the GS, but my friend is flying into Baltimore and will not have his bike
and it is a boring ride from Balto to Indy. I am planning on camping outside of the track. I went to the first race in 2000 and Montreal last year. I liked Montreal, but it was very expensive, plus you can not move around to different seats during practice. Indy is nice beacuse on Fri and Sat you can move around and camp outside of the track.

![]() I keep telling myself I want to go. It's so close to me and I love F1 and haven't seen a U.S. F1 race since Watkins Glen many years ago ... |

It was moved to June 20 to neatly coincide with the Canadian on June 13 ... makes more sense to have the two races around the same time. (Of course, the ultimate "fuck you" is that the French Grand Prix is on July 4, next after the USGP.)
I attended the inaugural in 2000 ... a dark and gloomy day, rain in the morning kept half the main straight wet, half dry. F1 at the Brickyard is like a ship in a bottle ... the slick, glitzy high-tech circus contained within the brooding and ancient grandstand and track. We had seats on the main straight and then headed over to turn 7 (exits onto the Hulman Blvd back straight) to see Frentzen and Villenueve battle for points. |

The high-tech circus may be going lower tech in 4 years time - the FIA has proposed that the engines will be changed to 2.4-litre V8s with a maximum of 4 valves per cylinder, and must be used to 2 races, not 1 as currently
Variable geometry inlet and exhaust systems would be banned, together with ultra high pressure direct injection fuel systems, and a standard ECU would be provided for all teams. Semi-automatic gearboxes would be banned, so manual operation of both clutch and gearbox would be mandatory. Electronically controlled differentials would also be banned, while brake discs, pads and callipers would be standardised. Power-steering would not be allowed. There's more, too - see http://www.formula1.com/race/news/1456/717.html |
