Griz,
I had a similar experience installing my Holans. I didn't have to do any grinding but they are a bit of a jigsaw puzzle to install. With as many times as I put them on and took them off, I am also positive I got everything in the right place. As I stated in an earlier post, they do "settle" in a little and now although not perfect side to side they are OK. I also think there may be some inconsistencies in the manufacture process. Is this a deal breaker...absolutely not. I still think they are the best set available.
Mike

They sure looks neat. Does it fit together with the BMW original bash plate?

How long did it take for Holan USA to fill your order?

Nothing to my knowledge works with the ADV Spec bashplate except for the ADV Spec bars. Possibly the Metal Mule, but they are even more expensive than the ADV Spec for what looks like less coverage.
Actually the Adventure Spec bars ship without UK VAT added which currently makes them 266.00 dollars against 250.00 for the Holans. Not much price difference really, also people seem to say that the bars arrive within two to three DAYS!

It seems that the only way to make a choice between these two types of bars is by performance not cost, which is great for all F800 riders!

I wouldn't say that is completely accurate Dave. No overseas supplier can guarantee you no import duties on products you import, unless they incorrectly marking boxes as gifts. DHL or USPS will charge your customers for the Import duties and fees when they deliver your product (or via bill afterward) and they are responsible for paying this duty.

Read here: http://www.dhl-usa.com/resources/DHL...ice%20Fees.pdf

or here: http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/immc7_002.htm

Some folks might slip through (especially with USPS) but I wouldn't consider that the rule of the road.

To be fair, Holan products shipped to addresses within the state of Pennsylvania are charged sales tax.

I like my Holan crashbars. Good protection. And I've actually gotten a few comments from people about how they like that they work with the lines and design of the bike very well.
