I just got my new gs at the end of June and over the course of a month put 6000 miles on it. My best bike ever.

All you guys with the knobby tires... How long do they last? (My BMW shop told me about 3,000 miles) Also, how do they handle on pavement in the rain?

I have TKC 80's on my GSA, first time ever having anything this knobby. Always had tourance on my old '06 GS.

I dont like them in the rain, they feel pretty squirrely to me. They are noticeably bumping riding slow, but once you get moving it all smooths out. I wont be putting them on again, my riding is all pavement, save for the few gravel roads, but those are usually hard pressed and not full of lose stuff.

Handling on pavement, well, it doesn't feel like it sticks anywhere near as well, I felt I was better planted on the road with the tourance tires.

I only have around 2500 kms on mine, but will be swapping for tourance at the beginning of next season to save these for a trip I might want knobs.

Not a tires thread but I'm always surprised when I read how bad raps the TKC's get... I rode with them on the 1150GSA, and I've had them on my 1200 GSA. I rode in several heavy downpours and maybe couldn't touch the pavement with my knee ( I actually can't on a sportbike either ), but they were quite good. They lasted for 6K plus (rear - the front would be good for few more). I didn't get to use them as intended so I went for the Annakee 2 now...
BTW in the rain, the Dunlop D607 were fantastic ! (on the 1150 GSA).....

Cheers,

King City, MO - some nice riding up in that area.
The windfarms as backdrops are a plus!

the only difference is that the GS doesn't leak when it's working correctly... the BOne is a bit faster, though, I reckon.
