Cold this morning

Life after the KTM 990 .... Cold today though. TKC's great in slush/snow.
Brilliant bike, the only negative is the need to buy every accessory on the market .... Ohlins where are you??

I think I've figured this out now

I tried, in response to some threads about gps mounting, to get these pictures up before, but failed becuse I didn't realize the files were so large.

Anyway, it's mid winter here in CT so that means mid-farkle and here's my ride. '05 with new paint, Kalahari yellow (previous owner had it in metallic black) to match my helemet.

I spent about a day sanding the plastic down with wet and dry before handing it to Sean at CCR in Bridgeport to paint. He did a great job for $250.

He also told me that 180 dry sandpaper is the stuff to use on injection molded plastic, not wet & dry, so there's a tip for all of us.

The GPS mount is the kit that comes with the Garmin Zumo, only I added some stainless fasteners and shrink wrapped the cheapy u-tube. The kit calls for mounting to the handle bars but I think this is a better compromise between field of view and reachability.

I now have to upgrade my helmet with bluetooth speakers and mic. Any advice most welcome.

Adv. racks came off ebay and the bags got here eventually. I'm looking for a decent tail bag (not a big fan of top-boxes) for the passenger location and the rest will be camping tie down stuff.

Bye for now.

Looks great Croads! I like the color. I have a spare set of body panels for mine and am having a hell of a time deciding on what color to paint them. Might have to give some thought to Kalahari yellow.

Close up on Zumo mount

Here's a close up on the Zumo mount.

For all of you considering adding winglets to the std GS, I added a hand bent strip of 1/8 aluminum to the underside of the beak section and marine epoxied it in place. It reinforces the winglet screw points and the 12 outlet together.

When you get it painted be sure to post pics. The owner of that wing would probably like a green GS very much!
