Exploring a riverbed in Ungsang, South Korea 22.02.2009 (Busan, Ungsang)
Good day fellow ADVriders,
This morning we went out with “Flying dutch” and “Camelchaser2005” for a ride (Camelchaser - The fantastic photos from your Djibouti & Ethiopia ride report are lost so you better upload them again). Our plan to go for a longer ride up in the mountains was disturbed by the rain. As with our last attempt to ride all together some 3 weeks back it started drizzling as soon as we left Busan at 7:30 and after an hour of riding it was raining. In Ungsang (I am not sure if this is correct) we saw an inviting riverbed. A little wiser from the last week exercise Flying dutch and myself did not want to take the risk and go to in mud with our street tires, however the riverbed was primarily gravel so it looked easy and we were encouraged by Camelchaser confident on his offroad tires. Off we went for a short offroad / photo session. Since it was very overcast and therefore dark I was struggling with my slow lens / slow focus and many photos are blurred and out of focus despite setting sensitiveness to ISO 800. Anyway we once again had loads of fun and here is a selection of the photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some different river crossing techniques: Flying dutch: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Camelchaser: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Longwaybackhome: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After finishing our session the rain was pouring so we decided to return to Busan. “De-briefing” and planning the next rides was at Holly’s Coffee at Haeundae (yes, we all rode in adventure style standing on our footpegs). ![]() Thanks to my riding pals for another great ride. See you soon again. longwaybackhome screwed with this post 02-22-2009 at 04:33 AM |

Flying dutch & Son,
My compliments for great video quality and innovative work with the editing! Unfortunately it fully exposes our mediocre riding skills, what looks very dynamic and aggressive in the photos now more resembles 2 (3?) lame ducks out on a walk in the riverbed! Either we have to improve considerably or alternatively play the video double or triple speed next time...! Look forward to the next video! PS. Camelchaser - Where are the Djibouti & Ethiopia photos? |

Next time, try with knobbies. you'll feel more comfortable. and you could try crossing the river outside the path. Keep going, you're on the right path. /thierry
