One thing all that rain was good for, it got the water flowing.
We slowly started climbing in elevation and made it to the park.

We said goodbye to Damir,

Thanks again,it was a pleasure meeting you.

We had just enough time to see the park that evening, and the rain was letting up.

Here is the park:

You were in Rastoke, by Slunj! Very nice place to stop and drink some cold beer!!!

Nice photos!

P. S. I must say hello to my relative Pudla! Where are you, old legend?!

Notice the numbers on the picture?
This is the second picture I've seen with numbers on it of this lake.
I used my digital camera, the same one used for the rest of my pictures and this is the only one where the numbers show....strange.

That's rowing track. Finish line is behind island.

Day 10;Sarajevo to Mostar 243K(150 miles)

We would leave Sarajevo to head our way towards Mostar.
The highlights on the way would be Sutjeska National Park and Blagaj.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blagaj
Or first encounter on the way where these guys(kids) setting up some rockslide meshing. They literary were being shelled with rubble while trying to get this role spread out.

Notice the one kid didn't even have a "official" uniform.
No OSHA here.

I really started to like these haystacks.

I could live here.

Rush hour traffic ......

Our coffee break partner.

(I was really missing my dog)

A war monument(I think)

Sutjeska National Park

Sutjeska is one of Bosnia and Herzogovina's oldest parks.
It is famous for the Partisan victory over the Germans in WWII.
It hosts one of the last two remaining primeval forests of Europe.

This is a calf being towed in a VW Gulf .
It took a little work to get around that transport truck

We are starting to get closer to Blagaj.
The temperature is getting warmer,yeahhh!!!
Time to open some vents in the coat.
Ruins of fortress of Herceg Stjepan.

Source of the Buna River, where we had our lunch.

After a relaxing lunch we took off for Mostar.

Self portrait.

Made it to our hotel.Time for a shower and off to see "the bridge" Stari most.
(this hotel every night is nice, something we rarely do at home, just bringing our camping things would be to difficult on this tour so we splurged for this one)

Mostar is today an extraordinary town.
In the former Yugoslav it was the city with the most mixed marriages-not a mosaic of cultures and traditions but a real melting pot of them.Today Mostar is a city in transition. It was devastated by war but the reconstruction has seen the town come back to life.
It's cobblestone streets are once again filled with visitors from all over the world. You will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Neretva and the surrounding mountains.

Remains of the war.

They haven't rebuilt as quickly as Sarajevo but it was good to see progress being made.

Some eye candy.

Off to bed....

Day 11;Mostar to Zabljak,Montenegro 291K(181miles)

We're off to the wilds of Montenegro, destination Durmitor NP
http://www.summitpost.org/area/range.../durmitor.html
I'm looking forward to getting back in the country.
First we need to find our way to Niksic, and find the Ostrog Monastery.
The monestery was built in the 17th century ,it's wedged into the perpendicular rock with hundreds of meters of sheer rock above and below it.
It was built by Vasilije Jovanonic, later to be known as St.Vasilije(Basil)and he never left.
The saints darkened bones are in the church, watched over by a black- robed, pigtailed monk.
Sounds cool to me.

On the way to Montenegro

Gas stop.(Energy for me,gas for the bike)

Border into Montenegro

The scenery is starting to change again.

We ran into construction in Niksic,so we let Zumo take us to Ostrog.
The road the GPS picked was an interesting, nice unpaved road.

Luckily it looked like no one was hurt, actually nobody was there

The main road to the monastery

And the monastery itself.
