After our visit to Ostrog,it was north through Niksic to Durmitor.

The place we had our lunch.

The road to Zabljak, where we would call home for the next 2 days, was a nice fast one.

Some shots along the way.

Tara river: http://www.durmitorcg.com/tara_eng.php

Which way?

The shadows were getting long.

Getting cold quick.....time to find our bed.

Wow.

Amazing. My dream trip, nearly. I need more beaches though. I'd be heading to Monaco for my dream ride. Was language an issue? How many languages did you ride through??

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Thanks
There were some nice beaches along the Dalmation coast.
I'm guessing we went through around four different languages.
English was spoken everywhere we went, there was no problem there.

Day 12;Rest day Dumitor NP Montenegro

We made it to Zabljak late that evening.
Zabljak is a small town(5,000 pop.)located at the highest elevation in the Balkans, situated in the very cnter of the enormous mountain of Durmitor.
http://www.durmitorcg.com/opstina_eng.php
Our home for the next 2 nights was the Hotel Enigma....
and that it was
Unfortunately there was a school field trip going on,so there were about 75 -12 year olds running about the place.
The dinner was a buffet style and being that we were late, there wasn't much left.(Our own fault)
Kids,being kids,had a great time,running through the hallways until around 4 AM.
Good thing we were both tired, for we slept through most of it.
We made sure we were the first ones for breakfast, the kids slept a bit later than us.
We grabbed our first plate of a nice breakfast just as the hooligans were coming in.
The tasty "donuts"seemed to be a big hit with the students.(me too)
After leaving our laundry with our hotel friend, this one fellow was our -"go to"- guy,as he was one of the few who could speak English well.
This was one of the more remote places on our trip,English was not spoken as much here.
With another sunny day for us it was off to see the park.

One of the nice roads we found.

Edit-Having trouble with photo uploads, more pictures to come.....

Durmitor

Tara Canyon

Logging operation:

This guy was VERY proud of his "workers"

After a nice tour around Durmitor we went back to the hotel.
It was very quiet as the school trip had ended.
Our laundry was done and we decided to walk into Zabljak.
Outside our window:
(Don't feed the cows)

They decided to walk with us

Zabljak

I think this town is going to explode in popularity.(as is most of Montenegro)
There was a ton of new buildings going up,I'm glad we made it there when we did.

Most beautiful pics, thanks for sharing your trip.
I got more than one desktop from this one. I LOVE the first few pics of the river banks with the snow capped mts, then the shading towards the river with all the grey misty cloudy stuff. Very cool

I have a cousin that lives in Bosnia, this might be a doable trip for me one day soon.

awesome
took a ride along the Adriatic coast in 2007, and didn't get too far off the coast. Thanks for sharing some of what lies inland. I'll have to make a return trip someday. Excellent riding in that part of the world.

did you make it to Budva, Koter, or Dubrovnik?

I would love for you to post or PM me details of your bike hire. I have a small bike rental business in Australia, so for comparison reasons, but this a MUST ride for me one of these days.

Cheers

Day-13;Zabljak to Petrovac,206K(128 miles)

We leave the wilderness of Durmitor and work our way towards the sea.
The roads today will be sweeping through the Tara canyon, slow and hot through Podgorica,we were warned not to stop there....more on that later.
A nice loop around Skadar lake and a nice coastal road between Bar and Petrovac.

Traffic control

The road towards Podgorica was to much fun to take pictures on.
Actually it was so good that I almost received a performance award.

(Photo from a couple of days ago)
While we had lunch with Damir back in Karlovak,he schooled me on how to act in a radar situation.
He said it would be guaranteed that at some time we would be stopped for speeding.
The procedure was explained on how to deal in such a situation.(Thanks Damir)
At first I was pretty nervous, but as I was sent to the English speaking officer I started to remember what I was taught.
The scene went something like this:
After being waved in by lollypop holding officer.
Officer:"So You only speak English?....me too" (HA HA)
papers please.
Shuffles through my paper work.
"I don't know Daniel,65K in 30 K,not good Daniel"
Long pause...."pretends to put my license in his front pocket
"If you were from here we keep license for 1 month,I don't know Daniel, you have to go to court at 2:00"

Me:"Sorry I wont be here we have to get to Petrovac by tonight"
Officer:"You must go see the Majesty, maybe when done, maybe take him to lunch..."
Me:"Sorry I can't stay here that long, can I maybe just pay my fine here?(As suggested by Damir)"
Officer:"I don't know Daniel.......2:00 with the Majesty"
After a few more minutes of getting scolded.
Me(getting out wallet):"Here I'll just pay you the fine OK"
Officer(Reaching hand low by the floor of the car)
Me:I slip 20 Euro in his hand.Sorry for speeding,have a nice day.

So that was my first time "donating" to the Policija fund.
The whole time I was speaking with the officer Ellie was getting teased by the other officers, they were blowing her kisses, saying she has beautiful bue eyes(they're right)
She was glad to be on our way.
We took it easy for a while after that
We stopped for lunch before our trip around Skadar Lake.

The road around the lake was great. Very scenic.

Albania is in the distance.

We came across this Chestnut forest.

After this picture I was again stopped for speeding, although this time I wasn't.
The officer didn't speak English well so he just decided to let me go
More haystacks:

We made our way into Petrovac and found our hotel.

After dinner we walked along the water.

Sunset :

Tomorrow, Dubrovnik......

Oh so you've had a speeding situation . It is like a rewind playing scene, it happens all the time along the Monte Negro coastline.

I like your interpretation of the dialog . But next time give them 10 eur it will be enough, and get yourself two beers for the remaining tener .

Like the last set of the pics, keep em coming
