Thank you

Absolutely stunning photography . I rode through Slovenia and Croatia last May, on many of the same roads. What a treat to see your pictures. What made you decide on the Balkans??? I'd go back in a second, I thought the vibe was fantastic.

One of the main reasons were the great ride reports from Damir, the other was that's were Ellie wanted to go.
What a great area!
I too would return in a heartbeat.
It's hard to take a bad picture there.
thanks

Day 17,The Beautiful Island of Hvar

Hvar Island...what a nice place!
This was my favorite place to relax during our trip.(we were there during the "off" season)
The island is famous for the most hours of sunlight anywhere in the world and it's fine lavender.
The highlights were the road between Hvar town and Stari Grad.
It offered awesome views of stone terraces and the Biokovo Mts
and also goes over the top of the new tunnel.

Photos from the Island:
These rock formations were all over the island.

Nice to see.

Ferry to our next destination......

Day 18,Hvar Island to Pag Island 260K(163miles)

Sadly our trip is almost coming to an end.
We leave the island of Hvar to go to another island.....Pag.
This is the home of the fantastic cheese we had in Montenegro.
The cheese is unique due to the limited vegetation on the island, making the goats milk a little different than anywhere else.
http://www.paskasirana.com/eng/herit...ese_of_pag.htm
The other highlights would be riding through Skradin;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skradin and Krka National Park.(although we ran out of time to see it)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skradin

Here we are getting on the ferry to Split.

Lunch stop.

Proper espresso

Another sunset

The hotel we stayed in on Pag(Hotel Luna) was brand new and probably the nicest, but it was also the most boring.(no character)

Our second last night

Final day tomorrow.........

Ya gotta stay out of those hostels that drug you and sell you to commercial torture cartels, though.

Oh, wait, that was just a movie.

(Final) Day 19 Pag Island to Ljubljana 309 K(193 miles)

On this day our trip must come to an end.
What a great ride it has been.
First order, after breakfast(and Pag cheese )is to catch the ferry to the mainland Croatia.
Our ship has come in!

One of the famous cheese makers.

I called him "Bucky"

The road to the ferry.

The rugged terrain.

The road along the coast was a absolute blast, very winding and a lot of elevation changes.
Heading into the mountains the weather changed dramatically and we saw some slush on some of the roads.
Before getting to Slovenia we fueled up and put our heated gear back on.
I didn't get a lot of pictures on the way ,sort of just enjoying the ride.
It was a bittersweet moment for sure.

Entering Slovenia.

Sign.(finally stopped to take picture)

Slovenia

More rain coming.

4 kilometers from the hotel.
Wet roads and white stripes, not a good combination.
Slow speed right hand turn, not quite sure what happened but I low -sided.
I think my dirt bike skills kicked in because I must have never let go of the handlebars or touched the pavement(other than my feet)
I remember seeing cars in the other lane and thinking I have to stop this bike from sliding into them.
Years of off-roading has made me an experienced crasher I guess.
The pavement was like ice.
Thankfully a park worker was nearby and helped me upright the bike and get out of the road.
He said it is a common to see motorbikes go down there in the rain.
I'm just glad the bike stopped and the damage was minimal.
Lesson learned, (relatively painless)
4 fricken K!!

Back at the hotel we receive a phone call fro Matej,(tour owner)
He would like to know if we could bring the bikes to his shop.
After my fall I was a bit hesitant, but what the heck, how could you not want to squeak out every last kilometer of this ride?

Matej.

One more treat,Matej asks if I would return another GS to the dealer for him......sure why not, this way I could try out a '07.
I have a '05,the bike I rented was a '08 and now the "07.
They seem to getter better each year.
No more mishaps and my trip has come to a close.
Thank you Adriatic MotoTours for putting together a fantastic trip.
Damir thanks for your terrific reports and hospitality.
And most of all thank you Ellie for all you do.
