Uniting the Divide
Tim Cleveland contacted me yesterday wanting advice regarding a project he is putting together.
This summer he plans to lead an expedition of disabled vets, riding KLR sidecars down the Continental Divide. This is to provide the theme of a documentary film to highlight the plight of this country's returning wounded soldiers who are not getting thier medical needs met. They are looking for donations and support to make this happen. It may be a hard sell in todays economy, but I encourage you to take a look at the website to learn more about this interesting endeavor http://unitingthedivide.org/about.php 1.6 Million Deployed, 4,232 Killed, 30,981 Wounded, 180,633 Disability Claims, 2,095 Compensated.

What the heck, if they need a sidecar to put on a bike I have a Ural sitting here doing nothing. Vernon, put me in touch with somebody if they can use it and it's theirs. I can set up a rig here for them or transport the hack someplace in the Sacramento area.

Good Cause...
Thanks for posting this up.......
As a recent retiree from the military, I know and appreciate the sacrifice of those numbers..., It seems impossible to imagine we could be that far behind on resolving claims...Guess, its not that we are behind, but that we seem to not give two shits about catching up...Enough to piss a guy off... I got the site... Thanks again.... Bill |

Honestly I would suggest the system in place. They highly encourage you to file a claim when you get back, but the upstairs people automatically deny all claims the first run through. this creates a lot of people filing, and not really planning to follow through. Not that I believe that to be a good system of course; it's a freaking sad sight. Im saying the number is inflated as to how dew claims are honored. But of course, even if the numbers are WAY inflated, they are still horrendous. The VA denies really legit claims, and you have to be extremely motivated to persue. It usually takes 2 yrs, and joining an organization like AMVETS or VFW.
