First Offroadin in WV

Found a nice trail that cuts thru Sleepy Creek State Park in WV. It was posted, "Steet Legal Motorcycles permitted when gate is open". The gate was open, so...

I've seen gravel roads, but this was rediculous! Nothing but big nasty sharp rocks and fallen trees for about a mile! It was great!

Brought me out to a high tension power line cut that goes one for ever through some distant mountain ranges. Just magnificent view of WV.

It was fun for a small bore DS with moderate gearing. First gear almost all the way.

Came out a side trail at Woods Resort Golf community.

First real trailride on the DR.

This is me posing in front of the North Mountain overlook. Behind me is the Shenandoah Valley.

A look at a gentler section of the Sleepy Creek hunter's trail. This is the West Side of the mountain which wasn't full of big, sharp, nasty rocks like the East side was.

Not too far from the crest of the mountain there is a huge power grid cut that goes straight in both directions as far as the eye can see. Spectacular views!

Here's a video showing the view from behind the peak..

Talking Not much of a ride, but...

I figure with 250cc machine, little adventures become a bigger adventure.

Besides, this is West Virginia... only the Grand Canyon comes close!

I'm just outside of Martinsburg! Hope you can find a nice DS. The Super Sherpa was my first choice, but the DR came up on Ebay in Fredericksburg for $1000 and i bit. Then i freaked out when it turned out to be the "enduro" version, which is offroad-only. Took some real doing to get this puppy tagged.

If you can find a nice DS like a DR, just be sure it's the streetable version. In the old days, "enduro" meant street legal, not any more, appearently.

Hope that they will keep these Sleepy Creek trails open to motorcycling. The noise from the FMF pipe is a concern. Hoping to get a quiet stock pipe soon.

Did the South End Sleepy Creek WV

Rode around to the VA side and entered from 12/8 to pick up the main North/South Trail. Very difficult traverse! Had to quit just South of the lake due to the number of sizable downed trees. Had to hop about 100 or so to get that far.

Got a good workout though!

Cry Wrong gearing for Sleepy

Don't recommend this kinda trail for a DR 250 with 15/41. Lugging 1st at 5mph is a pain! Shoulda brought the 12 and tools to switch.
