Hi all

Longtime reader (lurker) first time poster. Just turned 51 and have only been riding since July 2008 (learners) and licensed since December 2008.

Late into bikes but I got to say it is the best thing I have ever done.

I have a K9 DL650 I purchased last December and since then I have clocked up nearly 16K. No one I know rides a bike so I will be asking a few questions if you don't mind.

Live in Queanbeyan but have a place down in Batemans Bay so travel down the Clyde a bit.

This forum is great and when I read some of the ride reports I feel like getting on the bike and hitting the road. I am still getting used to the dirt but getting there.

Thanks

Gary (Tiger)

anyone care to share opinions of these? (or any others)

My new bike

Here's mine, new to me 09 DL650 ABS with 5300K's on the clock when I bought it.
It came with a B & B bash plate, Givi crash bars and heated grips. I've got a fork brace on the way and will be adding a centre stand and pannier frames in the future.
I took it for a good run to Marysville on Saturday and found some dirt roads on the way home. The stock tyres suck, a good set of knobbies will make it a lot more sure footed.
Anyway I'm really enjoying this bike. I'm planning a lap around Oz next year. Best case will be 6 months leave without pay, worst mayby 2 or 3 months. The only other option is to quit, I'm just worried if I do I might not come back.

G'day Medicmick,

I think I ran into you and another bloke on mountain bikes earlier this year out near Belingan. There were three of us, a Dakar 650, XR650R and me on the Dominator. I trailered my bike up from Vic and we rode in from Forster. Fantastic riding and countryside except it rained the whole time. I;m just getting my head around doing the Mungo/Tophut ride, I need to spend a few more $$$ on the bike, oh well I'll just have to flog the credit card again.

Cheers
Dave

Well done Dave. You won't regret it. I wonder if that little talk we had at Talbotville influenced your decision.
