Talking Newbie DC area rider

New to riding but I'm hooked. Me and the wife 2 up some scenic short rides, and I commute to work on my new ride. I need to get the DR dirty though! Anybody got the patience to wait for me to catch up and desire to laugh when I fall?

I've been lurking for a while and have enjoyed the stories and pix. yes one day you all will have some pix of me like that.

Havent had the pleasure (or torture) of riding with any of you fine folks yet. look foward to meeting you all.

Any dirt roads in the area for me to try?

joe

the weather keeps screwing me

Yeah, yeah I know a little water stopping me from an adventurous ride to nowhere. I wanted to get out and have some fun. I was thinking Leesburg/perceville area would be good for me, (maybe the wife on back). She sure does not want to get soaked! once I get used to riding better I will laugh at this post!!

thats on the list for fall

you bet we will see the changing leaves this year.

we went to Del. Water Gap area in NJ for Memorial day weekend. We had a blast driving around by Blue Mountain lakes, Crater lake, Old mine road, and some small "access" roads used for fishing and hunting. We came across Buttermilk Falls and we were in Awe . off the access roads were some rough trails up the mountains and she was like yeah, lets go there! some of the rocks were the size of bowling balls and the two tire track sized paths had some fun sticker bushes growing into my path wich was a BIG suprize the first time they hit my jeans. there was a large standing "puddle" that kept me going on since I was almost dry from the water earlier. We did hear some shot guns in the distance and decided we will explore more next time.

we did 67 miles that trip and afterwards she told me she completly "gets" why I wanted the motercycle.

Welcome Joe. I'm new here too.

Go on a ride with the NOVA boys, they'll show you around. And you might live through it

Get yerself a rain suit. Rainy days can be the best days for riding. Nothing like riding through an insane thunderstorm past Goldwings hiding under bridges.
