Okies and Arkies do Mexico
I have been wanting to go to Copper Canyon for a long time. I finally had the chance. I have ridden in Mexico a couple of times before but it was only around the border near Presidio, Tx There is a large group of guys, mostly from OK and AR that make this trek around this time of year, every year. One of the guys that always goes called me and said some of the guys, six to be exact were going to take dual sport bikes this year and ride to Copper Canyon and maybe even take the ferry over to Baja. Didn't have to think about it very long, sounded like a good time.
Will add pics and continue later.

Matt on his 520 getting ready to go over to the border to beg for mercy. The last time he was in Mexico he forgot to turn in his vehicle permit and visa when he returned. If you go to Mexico, don't forget to do this when you return. Gary and Rick are cheering him on.

Jeremy when we were still in Texas. Getting ready to cross the border. That rear tire looked a lot different after 2100 miles. He is the only guy I know of to ride a 450EXC 650 miles in one day.

![]() Our original plan was to ride to Creel the first day but after getting such a late start because of all the delays at the border, getting the paper work sorted out, we only made to Chihuahua the first day. Found a really cool motel though. It was recommended by some other Americans we met at a little road side taco stand. Each room even had its own little garage to put the bikes in.

I'm probably going to ride down Saturday and play all day, but I don't think I'll be able to make the event on Sunday.

The trials bike is still in my garage, but it's spoken for and will be shipping out in short order. I'm just taking the WR down to Scipio.

At the end of each day I would go into the stats in my gps and take a pic of it and then zero it out for the next day, so I would have a record of what we did each day. Here is the first day.
