WTB/ WTT Solo Seat kit

Does any one have a solo seat kit. I can trade for the stock Dakar seat or purchase. I know there is a place on ADV for this and will post there as well. Just thought I would but it into the appropiate thread. Thanks Steve

Somebody had one listed on flea market recently, but it was priced about as much as a new one. New, expect to pay about $300 once you add the necessary lock cylinder.

I really like mine though; handy place to store spares and emergency stuff.

I Have one I'd be willing to sell. It's like new in the box with a key and cylinder. I got it from the dealership and then the PO of my bike found one in the rafters so I have two.
Make me an offer. I want to get some motoport pants so the timing is good.

New pipe

Just put on a new Two Bros pipe. Man that thing rocks. Sounds like a dirt bike, snappy throttle. Will have to put a screen in it for the forest. I will shoot a pic for all. Later

A pic is all well and good, but how about some video/audio so we know what that badboy sounds like?

Which one is it anyway ... aluminum, carbon or Ti?

Nice!

Like the birdies chirping away before being drowned out (or scared away) in the last vid.

Then I moved the bike to the shade (this was about 2 pm. Have no idea where the time went today)

Just get yourself a 30mm socket !

A tip:
Don't remove the rear wheel just yet. Use the brake to hold against the CS Sprocket !

Then after the CS sprocket is loose it's time to remove the rear wheel and get that nasty old chain off. Thought there was a tad more wear than I remembered from the last time I had it off.

Had to replace the rubber absorbers at around 35.000 kms. There's wear on the hub aswell. Looks like something is out of aligment..... thinking I've solved the big mystery ! In fact it has only gotten worse the last couple of weeks. Hoping it's nothing serious.

Then I pulled off the CS sprocket. It is really ground down on the inside ! Here it is next to the new 13t sprocket I was going to put on. (But it's either the wrong sprocket or it's not manufactured correctly. It doesn't fit. Had to go with a almost new 15t I had lying around.)

Suspicion confirmed I thought. The chain must have been out of whack for quite some time.

The rear sprocket actally showed very little sign of wear. It's gone as far as the CS sprocket, and you can see that it is worn, but the chain hasn't dug in like on my last set of sprocets. Thinking about it. these sprockets must have gone around 22.000 km now.

On top of the new 49t

The previous 47t I had on....see the teeth are worn thin against the sunlit ground behind the bike. Replaced chain and sprockets at 18.000km and it threw the chain the last 600km or so

When I was replacing the rear shock I had everything in pieces for about a week waiting for the new bolts from BMW. So when I installed the new Öhlins I put everything back together the way I thought it came off. At the time I sort of thought the dustcovers went back on sort of peculiar, but the rear wheel was on so I couldn't see properly. I could today

More like it (Yeah I know they're bent and it's all a bit askew)

New chain
Quick masterlink guide

I use a pair of pliers to squeeze the masterlink together. A bit at a time.

Ofcourse I just place the clip over the ML (no need to press it over both pins ) with the opening facing rear (on top of the chain, and front if you attach the ML at the bottom of the chain)

Press the clip on with the pliers

Or tap it on with some other tool and a hammer

Then the important bit

Press the ml-plate back out against the clip so it won't fall off

I also changed the rear brakepads and brakefluid. Took it nice and slow. Had a beer or two. Listened to some classic rock on the stereo and really enjoyed the day.

Tomorrow I'll go for a ride. They say the last day of the 3-day weekend will be as warm and sunny as the two previous have and then it will rain rain rain from tuesday on.

.
You could tie it up with safety wire and then it would be as reliable as if it was pressed.
There is an article here about that (Orange Crush I think).

Ride safe.

You're right, that are the original Beer rims. I found a paintjob doing the coating for a couple of bugs. I got the engineguard und the auxiliary light masks coatet in the same time.

loud pipes save lives

The two bros is loud, I have some pictures and vid. Not sure if the sound will work. It is amazing that no one will tail gate me now. Will have to be nice to my neighbors and put a reducer in it. Any one know of a US company that makes a tool stash for the right side. One guy from Germany showed me a cool one they make over there. Sorry for the delay, eat your heart out!!!!
