That looks good Thomas. That is what I am working on now also. Ditching it all. Just indicators and a GPS on a dash.

thats great! i guess i shouldnt worry too much about mine going out soon with 24,000 miles. it was slipping a little in high gear at 17,000 miles when flogging the clutch hard when i got it but the guy was running synthetic oil, i been running regular motorcycle 10-40 oilfor the last 7,000 miles now and it works great. thanks!

Looking to put some money down on a pair of Happy Trail Owyhee Panniers. Can't decide on the 6" or the 7.5" wide ones. Do the 7.5s make the rear too big?

Yeah, thanks. Many, many years since I did mine in now. Post pics of your sollution. I have more pics if you need them.

Think I replaced the stock dash with a TT rally bracket after just one year. After that the leap to this was short and easy. Really was simply a result of putting the Cyclopse headlight on and having to figure something out since the TT rally bracket was towering 10-15 cm up in the air which wasn't all that pretty

I've gotten hold of some pieces of alu now that is powdercoated black. I'll either buy som Hella rally light and try to fab something up or just reuse the Cyclopse lamps and perhaps add one of those Trailtech highbeam spots. Also since "daytrime running LED" or whatever it's called is now andatory on all new cars sold in the EU and EEC they are readily available from any car accessory shop, so I'm thinking of trying one out. Just wish I had a garage to work in where weather and darkness didn't play a factor and I could just leave everything half done for the week it would take to get the job done. Instead I'm stuck outside on the lawn with highs of 12C and lows of 2C at the moment

Wonder if I can put the original dash back on and have the odo read 7000km ..... or is the info stored elsewhere

Had anyone had to relocate the starter/ load relief relay? I've got to but but am out of ideas on where to put it. Maybe someone found an alternative one similar to standard relays in build. The factory one has non insulated terminals which is why it's in the middle of nowhere on a plastic bracket in a rubber boot.

The 7.5 are just the right size

Here's a picture of the HT 7.5's on my wifes bike next to my old KTM.
My buddy put them on his V-strom as well, and they worked well. Any smaller and you'll be hard pressed to get anything in them.

Right on Thomas. Here is what I am working on. Made a cardboard cut out for the dash and now will cut some alum for it. I too use the cyclops lights but put them on a bracket I made that bolts to the stock subframe. I put all my indicators in homemade bracket also similar to your TT one. I may pop for the TT one however as mine may not be too weather proof. I will paint the Ermax windscreen all black also when all done. Need to fab a sheild in front of the lights also. Some plexiglass for that I think.

Bonus with the stock subframe is I bent the the two mounts on top with the bolts welded to them so they can be used with some bushings to bolt the windscreen to the subframe as well as the sides making it more secure.

Whatever headlight sheild I come up with will bolt on to that tap hanging down from the middle of the subframe that way the upper windscreen can come off to gain access to stuff under the dash. Trying to make things very modular so not to have to remove tons of stuff to do simple work. Making the sheild today.

Neat. (Got any up close pics of the bracket you made for the lights. Might wanna copy that)
Dunno if you misunderstood, but the TT piece I have is the rally dash plate (the one for roadbook holder and IMO computer). I don't have the Rally "tower" bracket piece that is used to hold up the proper Dakar rally dash... make sense ?

Here's a couple of pics from way back when

What I've found is that I really hate the taller screen and want something like this again (here yo can see how the dash/ IMO is towering up too)

Want to re-reoute the light circuit to where I can run the lights independently of the ignition
  1. Off
  2. Off, but brakelight works
  3. On, just halo and brake light
  4. On, halo, tale and brakelight
  5. On, halo, low beam, tale- and brake light
  6. On, halo, high beam, tale- and brake light

So I went on eBay and found this one that I'm 90% decided on at the moment. Why re-invent the wheel when it's gonna look home made at best and cost about the same in the end.... so I'm mentally designing the dash as we speak. Needs room for IMO and GPS. This one's nice enough to work and weird enough to be cool and stand out

New exhaust

So I fitted my new exhaust on the bike yesterday. It is a nice looking exhaust, much quieter than the Remus muffler I had on there, still has a really nice rasp to it. The bad news I think my bike just gained about 4 lbs. I'm not sure but I think this has a catalitic converter in it.

+1 on the 7.5's. That's what I have on mine. Even with the 7.5's I find myself wishing they were a little wider. Heck, a 30 pack of beer can't fit in them unless you unload them from the box.

nice looking exhaust, yea it could have a converter on it, it looks like the front section might be one.

Too late, money is spent :) I weighed the Remus, it was 7lbs, the new Sebring wiith Cat is 11lbs. I think I can handle the extra 4lbs as it looks so purdy and sound fantastic.
