First of all: sorry for my english! :)
The chain guide. It's made form polyester resin with glass fiber (the cockpit too). Absolutly home made: I created a negative form from the original plastic guide, modificated-> closed the rear end, then painted them: ![]() Quote:

Those that are using Renthal or other aftermarket bars which model did you get? I have Protaper SE CR Hi bars on my Dakar and they ride great but I would not recommend them as a proper fit for the BMW controls.

The exhaust:
The left can work only. The spares from the canister go out. The new entrail is one piece perfored and deformed pipe (45mm) with fiber filling. The left canister is a storge box: ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:

Enduro High (Part no: 613-01)
I had to change the original brake line for a longer one. And I not drill the bar for the oem heated grip wires, I moved them inside the handuards. I had to change the throttle cable position too. Quote:

kovrob, fantastic idea about using the handguards for the heated grips wiring, how did you convert the throttle side ? Any photos ?
That's a job i'm going to do in a week or two so any info would be great. Cheers Pete

Renthal Dakar High for me. Bloody wide which I like. About a metre I think. Meant I lost a bit of slack in the control wiring, but nothing too bad. Just means it's not running along the handle bar anymore, but not in a way that it's problematic.
kovrob, awesome job on the mods mate. What did you encounter when you did this? ![]() I've got a late model Dakar which has the left side end cap closed. But am thinking of drilling it out to convert it into a single sided exhaust and convert the right hand side into storage like you did (doubt my end cap will be as nice though). You look like you did some more work. Why was that? Any photo's of what came out and what was left in? |

I just bought a 03 Dakar and I have done some searching on here, but couldn't really find what I wanted. I am looking to replace the standard headlight bulb, but would like to get some more light out of it. Without going to HID, what model numbers, etc are there? Also, any info on which is brighter and which are less expensive is a plus.
Also, if this is the wrong forum, I appologize and will accept the bashing with a smile. I am new here and haven't gotten everything figured out. Also, I will post a pic of the bike when I get a chance to take one. The 8" of snow we got on the day we got back from buying the bike is really throwing a wrench in things.

Watch out, the left side (viewed from the back) is the catalytic converter. At least this is where it is on mine (2006 model).

You are in the right place. No bashing with a Dakar. That is what we are all about. I will look forward to what answer we will get so I can add it to the long list of things I need to do.
