So you and Joe are sitting beside each other in how to make friends and influence people class

Nah fuck all this year. Lost interest. Been busy with car stuff. I only really set the xr up for an annual simpson or cape trip anyway. Ideal bike to have ready to go at a moments notice. I dont plan shit much.
Bought a bmw to knock out some of the bigger rides I have in mind. That should take some getting used to.

Same here Smithy,
the bike is in storage so that a drama in itself to get out riding.
Car stuff, i have not played with them for years, no time or room,
looking at a 1969 Barracuda as a project later on.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new rim/hub set - is Ballards the go-to place? Or are there other decent aussie retailers?

Thanks

There's nothing listed on their site for the 650R, but i'll drop them an email and see what they do.

They are great at customer service so should give you an answer straight away. They also have some awesome chain/spoke tools for not much coin at all

No compression damping in shock

My compression damping screw on my shock has no noticable effect. Any ideas?
The shock had been apart at a shop before I bought it and I am reluctant to take it back, it was a long story then, and I'm sure it would be an even longer story again.
I'm keen to open it up.

pop her open mate. I overhauled my shock last year after the dampening went haywire, it was a lot easier than I thought, and after a thorough clean out, fresh oil, new seals and new gas the shock was as new. It's amazing how much crap can find it's way into the shock after a few years- the oil in mine was completely filthy.

I used the Honda manual in conjunction with these Racetech instructional videos, yes they are old, but so our our XR's!

Well I went in and opened up the the shock. 4 large shims short from STD on the compression stack.
With the shock back in the bike but only charged with compressed air at the moment to test, it now responds to the adjuster. TFFT
Now I need to do a days ride to see if I done the job properly with the assembly before I get it re gassed.
