Some Accessories

** More Pictures Added On Page 2 **

Here's some of the accessories I've added to the bike so far. Next week I should have the KTM exhaust, crash bars and PIAA 510 off-road lights installed on the bike. I'll post pictures of those once they're done...

Put a piece of sheep skin over that airhawk and you'll like it even more and it less visable hence not likely to be stolen

I just purchased a 76CS glad to hear you like your GPS for offroad, I feel better about my decision now. Nice set up, could you tell me more on the type of lighter plugs you used. They look rugged and compact, one anyway. I will be using dash mount as I like to use tank bag which precludes the use of glove box on regular basis untill I can find a quick detach for KTM bag strap. Any ideas on this out there .

Katoum,

The plugs are BMW power plugs. They are much more compact and fit with the male much tighter than a traditional car-style plug.

Here's your source for the plugs...

Great site!!! Which one of the plugs did you use on your bike? Pardon the ignorance, but can water hurt these connections?

I'm pretty sure it's the PL-PSO-003. The dealer installed it, but it's the same power plug you get at any BMW motorcycle store.

Here's another great site...

Not right away. But if you ride in all weather and salt (for melting ice in the winter here) like I do, you'll develop green copper-grunge in the female receptacle. Sometimes when I've washed my bike, I've also heard water buzzing and sizzling inside the receptacle after.

Doesn't hurt anything right away. Over time you get resistance, and a bad connection.

Oh, and the male and female plugs do wear out over time as well - but good BMW style plugs are the best thing out there for stuff like vests and the like.

And one last thing - there is a wide variation on quality among the different brands. BMW and JD both buy from various suppliers, so sometimes you get really good stuff and sometimes really crappy plugs. The difference seems to be in how resistant the parts are to corrosion, and in how firmly the female part grasps the male part. The cheap females don't seem to grasp nearly as tightly - DAMHIK, IJK.

Best,
Doug Grosjean

PS - The info above really is a serious post, though it may not sound like it ....
