What a weekend. Got home around 1:00 today and got a doctor appt for 4:30. I had a 30 mph getoff on Friday that dinged my shoulder pretty good and I was hurting the rest of the weekend though lots of Ibuprofin got me thru the days and some friend's Vicodin got me thru the nights. Doc says its just soft tissue damage, now I'm waiting for walgreens to fill my Rx for my own Vicadin.

I'll post my ride report later. Not sure if will be titled "Beware the n00bs of March" or "No good deed will go unpunished".

Also on my way to Panamint I ran into BigJohnBundy:

After arriving at camp and pulling all my stuff off the bike JAB and Jason arrived. BigJohnBundy and KLRWoody were kind enough to wait, so we headed off towards Titus Canyon.

I did say that we headed toward Titus Canyon. First Jason''s cllutch cable just seized, ok, it was a bit old but it just seized. JAB got it going with a zip tie, some motor oil and a little gas. While the repair was going on(before we had properly diagnosed the problem) I caught up with BigJohnBundy and KLRWoody and told them to continue on without us. Once we got Jason going again we zoomed off. Maybe a little too much "zoom". A couple miles later, A nail in the rear tire lead to a very exciting blow out. JAB was right behind me so he can better say what it looked like.

So... I patched the tube (1:15min) 10 miles later the patch decided it didn't want to hold so I replaced it with a 21in tube (45min). When I got back to camp I decided to pull out the 21 and install a new 18in tube (25min). Are you seeing a trend here?

Friday happened very fast. We arrived and I barely have time to set up half the tent that a group ride has already formed for Chloride and Titus. So I throw the gear on, forget the water and advil I was gonna take and go.

Don't have any pics from Chloride because it was rather demanding and happened kind of in a blur. Maybe someone else has pics. It was a lot of fun, and I would like to thank Sito and DSM8 who ran sweep on this one (mostly after me), I do appreciate your patience and has made for a very enjoyable experience for me that I will remember for some time to come.

Then Titus, when a sip of DSM8's gatorade reminded me that hydration is useful, and also that I do have a camera.

The long arm of the law:

DSM8

Here I stopped to ponder if I can actually make it downhill upright.

I do think the 5,000 mile Distanzias are approaching the end of their useful life though. Although adorned with many cuts, none penetrated deep enough to reach the tubes, thankfully, I was thusly spared of finding out just how hard it is to take tires off those wide rims.

Then as I climb a rock to scout the road I find the troop was resting not very far from my location, I gain some courage and roll downhill.

The welcome committee:

The way out of Titus includes more deep gravel over which my big fat tires float like a boat and follow every rut they can find.

Running through my pics and did not find many action shots, just location shots, but some are scenic.
Friday I chased SFJoe, Dave, Jim and Steve doing the Hunter Mountain loop/ Lipponcott route and some other terrain only Joe knows about. No pics of the frozen boghole dump or the mud rut crash.
My steed:

Lunch at the Lost Burro mine:

Saturday, teamed up with KLRWoody, BigJohn and Richard to continue the mine theme.
Old toll rd to Darwin

After the Lap dance we saddle up

gas up

say our prayers and head out

For Cerro Gordo

After visiting the Viking mine and Talc City we decide to take an easy ride out to the Corona mine. I hope someone has some pics of trail canyon but at the end is this:

and a short walk up a narrow canyon is this:

a couple of gratuitous landscape shots

I had a great time, met some more good people and Joel thanks for your effort, you look just like your Avatar.
