Have you run TKC's or Mitas E-09's before? If so can you give us a comparison? feel, noise, vibration, payvment gripe etc...
Payvment and dirt comarisons are/should be fairly obvious i guess.
I was told my another K60 owner that he thought they were much louder than dot knobbies.

I've got the new size 150's mounted on R1200GS
Must say that I am impressed at the road holding- wayyyy ahead of those TKC's I used to have.
Really chuffed to bits with them

nice another 140-17" user on a 150-17" speced bike (stroms, gs, tigers)
thanks for the report. that 140 will be available in the US this friday! i'm betting a sales run will happen, as this is the first mid-point (between tourance & tck-80) rear beast tire to hit the us market.

ofcourse many will sit on the sidelines for the 150-17" as they are the conservative minded who can't wrap their mind around the fact you can go up or down one size from stock. we have a local adv rider, jim, who thinks this way and will only look at 120-17" rear (stock size dr650) tires, when i tell him a 130-17" is the prefered size to use and has more option to him. i tell him, till i'm blue in the face, use a 130 and all he says is the book say 120. oh well.

I've just ordered the 140/80-17 and 90/90-21 K60s for my F800. John at Motoamore expects them in at the end of the month now, and mine are part of his first shipment. The cost with shipping to southern Oregon was US$224. My Battlewings are nearing EOL, so I'll slap those K60s on as soon as they arrive and let y'all know what I think. Based on what I've read so far, I expect to be pleased.

About the 140 K60's:

On my 800 I have only had the stock battlewings and now these... the K60's is much much better in the dirt... enough grip and very controlled back sideways slides

With the stock tires I started feeling nervous at 90km/h on dirt where I have comfortably done 140km/h on dirt with these I would say a 50% improvement on dirt... did lots of rocky riding and no damage to the knobbs... difference in loose sand is ALLOT better ... have not done mud yet

On tar I would say it is 10% worse than the stock. (I am not a street racer so I don't take the tires to it's limits on the street) For me that is a fair compromise... It is indeed not a street superbike Braking on the front wheel is similar to the stock tires but I can feel that the ABS on the rear kicks in more often than with the stock tires when braking...

I have done about 2000km 2-up at 140km/h and it handles perfectly.... when 1-up I start feeling a slight wobble in the front at about 170km/h but then again I have not balanced the front in a loong time.. I rarely go that fast anyway.

I have ridden a friend's bike with 150 k60's (yes we got a few here in South Africa to test ) and the only difference I noticed is that the 140 tends to "lean " quicker around a corner...But I like it.... I will replace my 140's with 140's even if the 150's become more available.

As for noise... no difference for me... I really cannot hear any tire noise ... Maybe I have a good helmet ???

With any hope, the 150 will become widely available just as the Battlewing on my 800 wears out... That's what I'm hoping for, anyways.

Thanks for that link, sysie. If my km -> mi conversion is correct, most of those guys are getting twice the mileage I'd expect to get on a rear TKC-80. And it's cheaper! And it grips better on tarmac and is just as good in dirt! Are there any downsides to this tire (other than I can't get any yet)?

I doubt the Heidenau is as good as a TKC in the dirt. It's tread pattern isn't as aggressive. It does look like a nice 50/50 tire, though. I'm very interested in trying these out when my current set of tires wears out.

Yeah, I have a feeling that with the amount of power the F800GS puts to the rear wheel, I'm going to tear through the TKC's quicker than usual.

a k60 rear w/ a tck-80 front would be a great beast combo for those who ride all the terrain.
you get the front tck-80 dirt grip (& still good road grip) w/ the better mileage (but still good dirt grip) k60 rear.

i use a tck-80 front & mefo explorer rear on my dr for this reason.
it's proven, to me, to be the best dual-sport tire combo for the 650 thumper class and would translate the same to the beast class.

alternatively, for someone who need a less agressive dirt tread (say you spend your time only on primary smoother dirt roads) the new shinko 705 rear w/ a k60 front might be the ultimate combo.

that sounds like a great combo. i might look into that for my 800.
