I couldn't let the tag sit any longer, so I headed out to grab it this afternoon:

Simply Riding straight there and back wasn't much fun, so I turned off 107 to Paint Mtn. Rd. (FS54?) and crossed Lone Pine Gap. This road was definitely painted on the side of the mountain and every time I found myself on the north side of the hill, I got to play with snow and ice. The best part was some remedial lessons in over, around, and under fallen trees Coming back down the other side was a hoot and I got to pass some good ole boys from the area who couldn't believe someone had a motorcycle back up in there.

The tag, the "Swimmin Hole" at Paint Creek, is in a great spot and the creek was roaring today. There's just an amazing amount of volume, both decibel and water, right now. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there tomorrow with more daylight. (Google "5431 Lower Paint Creek Road, Tennessee, United States" for the exact location)

After snagging the pic, I headed out via River Rd. and got to play in the river in a couple places where it's come up over its banks. As I pulled into Hot Springs, I ran into the BMW club of Greeneville who were out with a nice force of touring bikes and even a couple big GSs (which were way too clean...). They were gearing up as I was taking my helmet off so there wasn't really time to chat. I hung around longer than necessary so I could keep enjoying that pipe smoke, though. All in all a great tag and a fun day trip.

New tag to be posted later tonight or tomorrow.

Time to go hunting. This one shouldn't be too bad. Enjoy the trip.

New Tag !!!

Sssssheeeewwww.....its cold out, its showing 32 degrees with 7 mph breeze blowing and I have no heated gear. O.k. this the prior tag was in an area 3 miles south of the Midway exit off I-40 on Kodak rd. along the French broad river just west of River Islands Golf course. This new Tag is within 30 miles of the last tag. Sorry, it isnt out somewhere futher or a more scenic tag, but its the best I could due for now. Good luck

Great landmark!. I have family that lives about 5 miles from there. Nice little hibachi and sushi place just down the road as well. Less than 10 miles from the one of the best mechanics around, too. Man, those roads are fun!

Yes Sir, you are correct and you know the area well. Once again I apologize for the cheesy Tag, but it was cold yesterday.

As luck would have it I was out cruising and came across this unusual sign that looked simular to the Tag. Thought I'd grab it in hope we can get it moving again.

I picked my other bike up from Ed today and thought I'd hop over and grab this tag. I ran the road from end to end several times and couldn't find it. To be safe I even took several of the side roads. I didn't even see any gravel roads like that out there. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get back out there with my map before too long.
