New tag

After one of my shortest rides ever

Christensen Shipyards started building this after Katrina, they were supposed to hire 1200 people. I wonder if it will ever happen.
According to their website a used 162' is $35,900,000, in other words a really exotic car is more affordable.

Wow, that was quick. I though for sure that one would make it more than a couple hours on a nasty, rainy Sunday. Sheesh...

Interesting new tag. I think I know where that is, but it's never occurred to me to ride in there.

I promise to stay off the tag for at least three more weeks just in case someone wants to grab it. If it gathers dust I'll move it...being it's almost in my driveway.

WARNING: If I do move it, it will go south for the winter.

How do you spell Monroe? Not that it matters, now.

You're right, it is in the edge of Monroe County. I thought the lake was the border, the map says it's not. I though it was still in Loudon Co since it's on the north side of the bridge.

As to the spelling point... I've never understood why the fort and the county are named for a guy with the title "Earl of Loudoun" while they decided to spell it Loudon.

I thought that might be where you were coming from...just a good chance to dig.

The new tag is really close to yours, but it is in Loudon County.

If google maps version of the county lines are accurate, yep its in Loudon County....

... and it looks a lot like this..... Grab!

Exactly as stated.... abandoned Christensen boat factory. Interesting place. I looked around inside for a minute or 3. A touch odd to see 20 ton gantry cranes (plural, I counted 4 or 5) installed in an abandoned building. It's the sole resident of the East Tellico Business Park, on Mills Rd.

Neat little gravel road with an uber steep hill around it that I may use again at a later date. I didn't get to explore the whole thing for the rapidly waning daylight, but I'll put it on the mental list of spots to check out another day.

New tag....

I'll continue with my historical spot theme.... If the pic itself doesn't have enough info to find it, it's in a friendly town. My wife's great grandparents are buried in the adjacent cemetery.
