Geeze, great ride and great story! Also cool to see that interesting clues are apparently welcome in East TN TAG.

Actually that is the Unaka Mountain Overlook. If you face the valley below you're overlooking Indian Grave Gap (way back in time there was a fairly large battle between settlers and indians; the indians just buried their dead on the spot). Looking further out you can see two or three balds, the largest of which is Beauty Spot. You can park in the valley and walk 1/10th of a mile to Beauty spot.
Mt. Mitchell can be seen off in the distance (26 miles away). Coming up to the overlook from the Tennessee side is a pull off with a trail leading down. If you follow that trail you come to Redfork Falls, and 85 foot waterfall with a large, deep pool at the bottom (people swim in it, I wouldn't, there's a massive hollow behing the falls with some mean hydraulics-you might never come out if sucked in!) and two chutes carved into the limestone that drain the pool.
As a side note on the falls; my brother made the news back in the late 70's for being one of the very few people to survive falling down the falls, I think there was only one other who lived after doing the same. One guy fell about 10 years ago and it took about three weeks before his remains were eject

If you come up to the overlook from Erwin and just keep going you'll come out in Beulladeen North Carolina.
If anyone likes to hike and camp, there are some awesome trails in the area. There is/was a guy on the NC side who would provide secure parking for $1 a day and shuttle service to get you to/from your chosen trail head.

strongmendieyoung: This wasn't directed at you in particular, I mostly wanted to give some background and explanations on my hints.

OK. Here's the best I could do for the next tag. I thought I had a few pics stored away for some further away tags. Hope this one isn't too easy. You'll find this tag at the end of an abandoned railroad.

Got it!

Here's the next one, I had to dig deep to find one so it's a bit old.

Hint: I hear there are a bunch of buckeyes in the hollow at the end of this road.

Hm. If my search is right you really got to the point with this one. Interestingly it appears you can't get there from TN either. Maybe I'm wrong. It doesn't look like something that's gonna show up on Google Earth though.

You've got it. The ride is more important than the destination.

and a nice ride it was....

Buckeye Hollow Rd.

Most northeasterly road in Tennessee. Can't be reached without going through Virginia.

nice little waterfall on a gravel road leading up to the tag location

This doe and fawn were drinking from the creek when i pulled into the tag location.

Yep, that's what I figured out. Right there at the most Northeast point of Tennessee. Did you also find the great little story of the guy trying to drive to that point? If it hadn't been got I might have taken the ride tomorrow morning.

Well you can only go West and South from there.
