10/14/09 tag

ok as requested
from Tenn it's paved, from NC it's Federal gravel
any bike can get it

file pic from a weekend ride from a friend's place, so you do not have to be in the pic

luckily I had my helmet on in the pic, hiding the fact that I'm becoming follically challenged

clues in pic
clues in text / rambling discourse above

Well crap, I guess I asked for it. It's going to be at least until this weekend before I can get down there.

Nice tag though.

I need to look at a few pics I have. It looks like someplace I've been but I don't remember any gravel roads there so I must be wrong. Last night I blazed through the GSMNP on rte 32 in the dark but if it's paved from the TN side it would be easy to have seen it even then. Hm. Gotta get up on my falls. :-/

Edit: just looked at my pics from another ride last year and there are those same falls. I just don't remember any gravel.

I'd know those falls anywhere. I've got a picture somewhere of me running the lower ledge of the falls in a kayak from sometime last century. Fun pick cuz it looks like I ran the whole drop. If I remember right, it was still about a 25' drop from the ledge. Wish it wasn't so wet and I had the time to ride for the tag tomorrow. The gravel route from NC is fun.

you went the wrong way then ...

there's a gravel approach in TN also, but you get back on assfault before the falls

anyway, it don't not matter how you get there, just get there!!!

I was riding with my Harley bud and another Harley bud of his. They don't do gravel so when I'm with them I don't do gravel. I enjoy gravel but doing without isn't a big sacrifice to be able to ride with him. I've got too much to get done these next two days to be able to do the rain ride for that shot.

I thought I'd give this a bump to rescue it from Page 3. There's a beautiful weekend coming up (not counting tomorrow's forecast). Someone should grab this. Maybe it will be me. Hmmmmmm. Probably not.

I'm glad to see us back in the game, after not being able to play because of work and other things.

I see you don't have the CBR any more. ANd have a bike to go on gravel, I've got some Ideas for some interesting gravel rides.

O yeah, I'm enjoying the new bike for sure. Same here about the gravels... Work does suck and keeps alot of people from playing, and Its hard for me to get out with swing shift. I got a few days off after tomorrow, so I'll be ready to play a bit
