you'll find this fortress in a town that shares its name with a nickname for US currency. lots of good routes from every direction to this tag, so it should be a good one to grab. its actually a pretty neat little place. i stopped and had a look around. just make sure you get there before 8pm, that seems to pretty well implied all over the property.

That's an understatement, that area is known for some pretty rough characters, a couple years ago some brothers got into a fight and one of them died.

The tag is The Castle, in Greenback, TN, off of Lee Shirley Rd.

there have been many news stories about it, If you're interested in a true character look them up. Floyd "Junior" Banks happened to be there when I pulled up and I had to take his tour of the "faces" that mysteriously appeared.

this is only about 2 mi from my house by road, about 3/4 cross country

The New Tag

to get this the picture has to be taken from the same side of the dam (not from 129)

Well I decided to do it today.

Here is the next tag:

The sign reads "East Lakeshore Trail Main Parking Lot".

That would be Lake Tellico East Lakeshore. The Gravel lot is off a dead end road named Coy Tee Rd which is off Axley Chapel Rd which is off East Coast Tellico Parkway. If you go to the back of the lot (not the hiking trail near the bulletin board) you'll find access to a bunch of short ridable trails...left and right. There's approximately 3 miles of trails in all.

Nice day to get the old rt out for a spin and this one was close by. Great place to hike by the way.

I moved it, but not too far. Coming up.

Years ago there was a book store in downtown knoxville by the same name as this center. The owners had a farm on this land and you could frequently see exotic animals on the property. I remember seeing a giraffe grazing by the side of the road one time.

It is now used for a different purpose as google will show.

A ride in the area will give some nice views of the Tennessee river and a look in to how the other half lives.

I'm happy to say I never stayed there

But glad to have gotten the tag:
