Vegas to Reno. Need information

Hi guys.

I was looking into Vegas to Reno race, and would like to get as much information as I can to understand it beforehand.

- Where it start and where it finish?
- How many miles per day?
- Who give support or pit services?
- Do I need chase team?
- When the day is over, where the competitors sleep / eat?
- Estimated registration costs?
- Any special preparation to the bike? I will race the Husaberg FE570
- Any special equipment obligatory? (like the IRC tracker in Baja)
- Which classes exists?
- Is it team race or single rider?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Been reading all the PDF's in BITD.COM, and still some questions are open:

- Who give support or pit services?
- Do I need chase team?
- The night camp, what include and how much it will cost?

I'm really considering coughing up the money and doing this event Rallymoto events are $450 now, so why not get three days and 10x the mileage for $50 bucks more.

Would a 2004 EXC 400 make it?

I say we run the 690's ironman style. its nothing more then a fast dual sport ride and only about 1/3 the length of a typical ride in Vermont .

Joking aside...what is the word on Prerunning? if I were to ride alone would it be a good idea to pre run everything? I don't think I have enough vacation time to show up early enough to prerun 900 miles of race course. What do people use for tube/tire? Stick with the mousse? etc.

After doing the Baja 1000 Iron Man without pre - running and finishing without any problems, I'm sure it will be wonderful experience doing the same in V2R.

No reason not to use Mousses. If you know how to install them, I would say that one set of Mousses and Desert tires will do the work on the budget if you are not too fast. If you want to do it better / safer, 3 sets, one for each day. And since it's only 300 miles, you can even go with normal MX type tires and not with the expensive Desert.

Aw man you guys are getting my head spinning, thinking about this opportunity.

Thanks MexMex for asking the questions and giving us some perspective from B1K.

So most of the things are clear, beside pit service.
I visited Blais page, didn't see anything...what did I missed?

What I'm looking for (actually it's "we", since yesterday I have another 2 guys that want to come ) it something similar to Mag7 or Baja pits.
To pay for the pit and gas, and have them waiting with it in the pit points.
Is any pit service out there offering this service?

Beside:

- I couldn't open the "First information latter" from BITD web site. Does any of you experience the same problem?

- Why I need 65 miles fuel range if there is 8 pits along the way which is 30 miles apart (+/-)?

- What is the weather during the day (for riding gear) and night (for sleeping gear) to expect?

- Does camping on the working area have any cost?

- Do I need lights? 300 miles is 10 hours top for a slow rider like me. If I will install TrailTech X2 lights (Xenon version) just to be on the safe side I will be fine or it's even too much?

Thanks again. Look like we will be there! :-)

None of us have run this route before, but I've done the V2R a few times.

In Baja, you need stationary pits. In V2R in years past, you don't. Your driver can hit almost every other pit before you get there, unless you're really fast, thus a 60ish mile range to skip a pit, hit a pit, etc.

There are a few "remote" pits which can't be reached, or couldn't recatch the bike if they did. I believe Blais will have a waiting pit at those if you want that service.

As in any desert race, you can always bum gas if things go awry...
