So are Africa Twins legal in Canada? without having to do a whole lot of extra inspections and work?

I have one in Greece I really want to bring over (and take into the states actually) but have heard its very difficult.

The hard part in usually finding a good used bike out of country. There is ALOT of paperwork and red tape that has to be done BUT it is do able if your willing to take the time......

There is a guy in Calgary with a real nice one maybe an 03 or so, that he bought in the Yukon from some German couple who crashed it. He fixed it up but says he had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it registered in Canada though. Anybody heard the rumor about the new 1200 Super Tenere which is supposed to come out in 2010? Probably won't be available in NA but I'd even consider trading my GS1200 for one of those.

My trip from Argentina to Vancouver ends at the end of May. I would like to sell my BEAUTIFUL 1998 Africa Twin when I get there.

She has been faultless for the 26000 mile trip. Never missed a beat, even at 15000 feet in Bolivia! The only problem I had was a stuck choke in Chile (took a while to figure out, and then 2 minutes to fix).

Details:

62,000 miles (when I get to Van. Just north of San Francisco now)
UK numberplate - has been permanently exported.
New front tyre oil and filter in SF.
New rear tyre, chain, plugs, coolant in Mexico City.
I have changed the oil every 3000 miles, filter every 6000. (Handbook says 8000 for both).
I bought the bike in the UK with 35000 miles on it - looked like new.

Extras (included):

Topbox
Metal Mule racks (I want to keep the boxes!)
Crash bars
Powerbronze tall screen
Headlight protector (PVC)
Garmin 12XL mount and GPS
Acerbis lever guards (inc wind deflector extra bits)
Scottoiler (never been plumbed in so I can't promise it works!)

Issues:

Some scratches on both sides of fairing (dropped on Ruta 40 gravel!)
Rack on one side slightly bent (but panniers fit fine)
Crash bar needs a weld on one side where it connects to frame
GPS missing two lines of pixels! Still use it every day.
Left footpeg slightly bent (I don't notice it - doesn't affect gear changing)


I am IN LOVE with this bike! If I don't get at least 5000 dollars (US or Canadian) for her I will probably ship her home.
