Thumb Great bike

A good friend of mine rode a KLR from Kansas to Paraguay without many problems. I see many riders from north choose to travel with KLR, as of my part, I trust Crist Scott saying that XT 600 are the most suitable, I know my pride as a owner is playing role on this . Have a great trip, which I am sure you will, and will visit the post to read how things are coming along. See you down in Paraguay pretty soon.

Update, T-minus Two months

Yep, it's actually looking like we might begin on schedule. We're completely out of one house and closing down the other. I've found somebody to take care of one or both so if we don't sell one now that's no worries. We've got enough money to last a couple years so now it's just finishing off the bikes & getting on with it.

Hopefully.

The number of things we've got to do is daunting. My bike is mostly squared away but we've barely begun on Jess's. We still need a tank, luggage rack, & to transfer my luggage to hers. Plus she's looking for smaller diameter tires/wheels.

Also, if everything works out here at work, we're looking at a two week vacation to HI or sailing on a 120' boat taking relief supplies to Haiti.

That's all for now. We're looking forward to watching the opening round of the 2010 MotoGP season at Smarty Pants on Weds (tape delayed). If you're in Seattle come on down.

This is a great trip! I wish you all the best on this adventure. This kind of thing is inspiring for me. People are very good in finding reasons not to do things like this. I think it's great when someone says: to hell with it, I'll just do it! Just go and see where the road takes you.

I might do something like this. It sounds great, just doing what you want to do. Whenever you come to Holland, I'd like to meet up and show you around. If I'm not off to somewhere far away...

Mike, time for you to get out there & do it. Drive south until you can't go any further, turn right & meet us in South America.

I might! At the moment, I'm planning a trip to Dakar (a bit further actually, to Banjul, The Gambia) on a bike in 2011. This is for a good cause and the bike is donated to Riders for Health. Maybe I'll do something like going through Africa to Cape Town or something like that. I'll have to see. But I'm inspired and I might just do it!

Update time

Yesterday I told my boss I was retiring in June so my girlfriend & I can ride our motorcycles around the world. He stared at me in shock for a moment then said he was jealous.

We've still got to get Jess's house rented out. We've decided we're going to begin our trip with two weeks (unfortunately not riding) in Iceland. This will hopefully be around June 1 - 16. As soon as we return from that we'll point our wheels north (or north-eastish) and head out
.

Hey Jet, we'll be riding the lower 48 next year for about 8 months. We'll keep an eye out for ya.

T minus 45 days

Ok, so it's technically T minus 45ish days. Probably more like 42 or 43. Either way very close. We've been buying the last few things needed for our bikes. I did the 'Doohickey' last week. The original one was broken so a good thing we did it now.
We're beginning our trip with a two week backpacking trip to Iceland, June 2 - 16. After that we'll be getting ready to go. We plan on heading across WA seeing some friends on our way to Couer D'Alene, ID to see my cousins. We'll spend the 4th of July weekend at their cabin near Yahk, BC then head north to AK.

Ah man, just read your post. What a crazy woman. Heal fast. We won't be in L.A. until next year so plenty of time to get back on a bike.

Jack

no KLR though.

i plan on buying a KTM 525 or a Husky 510.(maybe a 450)

then a Monster for cheap to commute on.

i would get a KLR again if i was riding around the world. so easy to work on.

P.S. are you at all interested in the Moab shock?
i also have progressive fork springs and emulators.
