Arkwhizzy, either booger or rooster tail (black, gold blade).

Albie, waders won't help. You'll still look as clueless as I do on a dual sport. Yup, that bad.

Matt, in the oven at 4:22p at 325 degrees.

Out at 6:22. Needs a bit more.

Sold out or thrown out? They have a little store in Springfield now.

you are already at fish camp?

I think the slicing before hand lets them cook faster maybe?
ive never tried unsliced, but following the original recipe ( more heat, longer cook times) they were dry to me.
Id rather err on the side of rare, that can be fixed with the oven.

what is your opinion of recipe/process?

Nate:

We purchased our last HD from Old Fart... I mean Old Fort Harley. The owners are great folks. They were very helpful over the SEVERAL months (over a year or so, actually) that we kicked around the idea of purchasing an Ultra. They let us ride any/all the Ultra's they had on the used showroom floor whenever we stopped by and had the time. They've cheerfully answered all my "newbie" questions since I first stumbled in there back in November of '07, etc, etc.

I have no complaints with the service department. The Service Manager, "Mike", is very knowledgable and has been very helpful.

Overlook the anti-Harley bias here and go see for yourself... may, or may not, be the place or the bike for you.

Best of luck!

Not counting my brother's moped, my first bike was a Yamaha 50cc Scooter. So my biases lean to anything that has 2 wheels and is comfortable/enjoyable to ride. Lots of HP would just feed my hooligan tendencies. The riding position of most you-pick-the-brand cruisers do not suit my broke-down knees and the riding position of most you-pick-the-brand sport bikes do not suit my broke-down shoulders. But I dream, I test ride and I thoroughly enjoy the search. My range of bikes is usually limited to standards and for HD, there's only the now discontinued and widely rejected XR1200X.

I was in a Honda/Yamaha dealership today that I would likely never buy a bike from because of their sales staff. However the guy behind the parts counter is a year round rider, a pleasant fellow and a guy that knows his stuff. I straddled a beautiful 2013 Super Tenere, while I was there and day dreamed about how much fun that bike would be, on a trip to Alaska.

On another note, a month back I test rode a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone. I noticed today that Youtube video I posted, of my test ride, had over a 1,000 views and my Youtube channel now has over 50,000 views.

Thanks for the input y'all.

Yeah, at camp. Ovens vary so much, this little one was set at 325 for about 2.5 hrs. Basted once. Recipe is fine, but i am not sure the vodka does much good. I'll drink it next time.
The slicing resulted in it being very under spiced, IMO. Garlic is fine, but I added several kinds of pepper to kick it up.
12 yr old scotch helping too.

I am curious how the slicing made it less spicey...

Its pretty bland in my opinion anyway, a bit of smoke if you do it my way, a bit of salt if you do the original ( liquid smoke) way.

was your baking pan sealed really tight?

the only thing I can think, i use a heavier metal pan with a snap on lid, and usually seal it with foil as well.

enjoy the river, and the fish!

They were hosts of last years Cannonball too. The staff seemed gracious as they gave away water etc. to the throng. And spent a lot of time answering Kelly's newb questions even though the place was packed.

Maybe that is why I like it. Because the Harley types don't. Of the many Harleys I have ridden on demos, this was by far, in my opinion, the best handling of them all. When I mention to the sales people I ride an R1 they try to push me to the V-Rod as the "fast" bike. They are stunned when I say I like the XR1200 better. Go ride it, you might like it.
