We be home

But we didn't finish up our trip on the bike...

We stopped in Ft Smith to have lunch with some long time friends of ours. I also called home and asked our son what the weather was doing at the house. Turns out is was a mix of freezing rain and snow.

Charlie and Jeannie kindly offered us the use of one of their Mazda Miatas. So we transferred gear from saddlebags/trunk to the trunk of the Miata. (incidentally, they hold about the same amount)We headed north on 71 to AR16 to 74 to 412 to home. 200 miles of warmth and sho' nuff, we got to Cotter and found wet roads, snow flurries, and temps at the freezing level. Kathe was very happy I took those folks up on their offer.

I'll go back next weekend to swap vehicles. They'll be gone all this coming week so I get to play in the adult go-kart for a few days.

Yep, I've seen it. It's true that KTM passed on sponsoring them. It's also true that they are a couple of ponces who needed a huge backup crew to get their dumb asses around the world. The ride reports section is full of people who go it alone, without backup, on KTMs, BMWs, mopeds, and anything else with two wheels and a motor.

Here's a couple for you, JT, because it's always sunny and warm in the desert. Or at least sunny. Except at night. You get the idea.

Thanks KB. I'll see what I can find out.

I forgot about njoytheride having one. Not familiar with TroyWolf.

Hope life's treating you well!

JaiDee

if I recall 10cup had a 800gs, before the wr250r

I seem to recall him referring to it as a heavy pig, but now has a r1200gs...

so?

NateLepain sure has put the hurt and mileage on his 650 beemer bike.

I sold the bike that both of my kiddos learned to ride on today, I am actually kind of sad.
the $$ will go towards bigger bike stuff for them, but, ahhh the memories.

Jai Dee, sure have enjoyed my F800GS . I have been a lot of miles and have no complaints. It will go just about anywhere. It is on the heavy side and you can sure tell when it decides to take a nap somewhere. Great on dirt roads and long highway trips. A lot of work on more difficult trails. She will do it but you have to earn it.
Having said all that I will probably sale my 800 and stick with the Husqvarna TR 650 for my all purpose for a least the next few years.
