Maybe a cold beer or maybe even two, but sympathy? ...from this group? Surely you jest.

Yeah. I was drinking beer with my wife this afternoon, realized I hadn't gotten her anything and said, "Well, you're not my mother." Wrong answer. You'd think I'd know better after 23 years of marriage.

I'll still be interested in the area. Absolutely gorgeous. Too many people on the river today, but man that area is just beautiful.

We did Steel Creek to Kyles landing. It was crazy crowded, but like I said it's hard to spoil the beauty of that area.

Awesome. That is a great area with great scenery. Hopefully you can float all the way down river to Rush. There's so much to see along the river.

Ive wanted to do a river boat float from rush( or buffalo point) to the white river for years now.

flat bottoms and canoes, enough gear to be comfy, and I have been told that the small fishing is INCREDIBLE, from what ive seen on the dock of the white/buffalo resort , I think tht fishing report is accurate.

no services down that far, and its a couple of days of floating, so not much tourist traffic.

From Elephant Rock to the mouth of the Buffalo is great smallmouth fishing. Then go upstream on the White and snag some trout.
I've got a 17' canoe to haul camping gear/beer/fishing tackle anytime you're ready.

where the hell is elephant rock?

EDIT- I see its referred to on pages 71-72 of the Ken Smith book.

right between cow creek and jumping shoals....

Ive floated from buiffalo point to rush, and been up stream from the white a few miles up the buffatlo, but that is it, and those trips were, years ago.

I dont care that much for trout to be honest, to catch or to eat. that water is so clear though, im happy to just sight see down to the bottom in that area, or catch those cool big blue crawyfish in that eddy area across from where the buffalo enters the white.

Elephant Rock is an outcropping of rock on the river that looks like.. well, an elephant head. But only vaguely. And it's below Rush.
I only care to catch Rainbows when trout fishing. Browns taste too much like dog food if they're not very large.

Google maps shows me that it is 1.5 miles due south of where the Buffalo enters the White.

just down stream of Cow creek

right south of buffalo city, as per this map
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/natio...ver_park97.pdf
