From what I've read and comparing the 450, my 400E is about the same power wise. But it would have better suspension.

No haven't ridden it yet. I won't get to either. He sold it this morning!!
That's what I'm looking for now though, a F800GS. I just hope I don't tear it up with the kind of riding I'm planning on doing.

It will be a year or two until i am financially able to anyhow.

LOL! You're going to half to come to the realization that you need 2 bikes to cover your needs. Go ahead and take this DRZ off my hands then get the F800GS. That should suit your needs just fine.

The wife and I went Leaf Peeping today and caged it over to Jasper. What a great day! The colors seem to be at their peak and there was no traffic on the roads. I'd expected most of the maples to be like the ones in my yard, decimated x8 (that's 80% gone for all but Scribe), but they were as spectacular as they can be.

We stopped at the Low Gap Cafe for the first time and I have to admit the place was every bit as good as many here have said. I REALLY hate to admit it, but Magoo was right. Excellent food and service. We'll definitely make a special trip to go back. It's only an hour and half trip one way so why not? The place was packed when we arrived around noon, but we were lucky enough to get a table. When we left there were about a dozen people wanting to get in and the waitress was telling people it would be at least a 30 minute wait to get in.

Tomorrow looks to be super too, though a bit chillier. Anybody riding?

I was at Chrystal Bridges a couple of weeks ago. Saw that frame out in that meadow but didn't realize what it was really for until I saw your picture.

Well that's the thing. My KLR works for long distance travel and it works for tight trails too. That's one reason I think I'd feel like a fool to sell it to help fund buying a 800XC or F800GS.

Its just that the F800GS is so damn sexy!!! :)
I guess it has just got me all flustered.

Eric,

my opinion is not to sell a bike that works for you.

keep saving until you can buy the other one in addition, otherwise, you might be messing up.

also, Njoytheride ( Craig) has a F800gs I think, and he beats it, rides it hard, and loves it from what I have heard from him.

White Rock Car Route?

I need some advice from those who've driven to White Rock in trucks/cars.

In the past I've read peoples' posts about roads to White Rock being closed and don't know whether those have all opened or not. Since I've only gone there on the bike I have no idea about what the options are for other vehicles.

What are the best (easiest) roads to take to get to White Rock in my truck. I'd like to take my wife down there to see the view, but for some reason she thinks riding on the back of the bike isn't such a good idea. OK, I'd don't think it's a good idea either. Also, the last time I took her 4 wheeling (many years ago in Colorado) she wasn't particularly happy so if I can avoid roads I might need to lock into 4WD I'd like to avoid them.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I know, you don't trust my directions, but I've taken my truck and trailer up there many times by going out 16 to Mill Creek, Mountain Crest, Bidville and to Bowels Gap. If you recall, we came out via Bowels Gap last week and little Honda civics were on the road too. With the rain there will be some red mud in spots. Doc?
