Dang Matt! Real sorry to hear all of this. I am seriously not that far away and would be glad to run up there anytime with real food or anything else to help pass the time. Just let me know.

Just saw that Doug True got hurt pretty bad at an AHSCS race this weekend too. Good grief. 6 broken ribs, broken Scapula, collapsed lungs. Might add him to the prayer list. Doug is one of the good guys.

Matt

Good to hear you will recover without surgery. You are as tough as the TW you were riding. After Ray and I got it sorted on the side of the road it started right up. Bars bent, dash demolished, mirrors missing, tail case bust and contents strewn all over the place. There were several of those gullies Friday and Saturday that could sneak up on ya. I know Earl had a few close calls and I did as well.

Hoping for a speedy recovery,
Brad

As someone that has "up close and personal" experience with multiple back and neck injuries and subsequent surgeries. I am going to give you some advice. You can take it or leave it.

I can tell you with some authority, pay attention to the Doctors when they tell you to take it easy, don't lift, don't ride, yada yada. I didn't the first time and I ended up with having to do the surgeries. It's not fun dude. Take care of yourself and take advantage of the women feeling sorry for you, I will be over to see you with that bottle of scotch I promised.
Listen to this man! When you think you are healed, take six months more before you ride. Not kidding.

We picked up the TW out of the ditch, put all his goodies that were in the Pelican case, that were thrown all over, and strap the case lid down with his tie downs. I pulled the clutch lever back into position, Brad and I put it in Neutral, turned on the key and hit the Magic button and it fired right up and purrrrrrrrrrrred like a kitten! We did not recover the Nitrous bottle.
I think Earl snagged it and will be installing it on his X-Challenge!!

TW speedo was stuck on 45mph so it must have dropped down from 90 to 45 before it got jammed in that postion!

Just left Matt at Washington Regional. He is feeling ok, sore back as expected. They have him on bed rest until he can be fitted with a back brace. They told him three days in the hospital (my guess is to insure swelling is down enough to be fitted with the brace).

He is in great spirits, very upbeat and talking about converting the TW into a cafe bike.

Room 5313, go harass him!

I haven't had any free time to go see him, but I did call the hospital and request only male nurses see him.
