Talking Fredericksburg VA. Dual Sport Riders

Everyone within a 20 mile radius of F,Burg sound off and lets see who is riding where?

I have a 2008 XR650L and am always looking for some riding areas.

There is a trail network off a road near 4 Mile Fork, that runs to Rt. 2. Barretta(?) property? I rode there years ago, then heard people were getting ticketed.

Drove past it a few weeks ago and saw a ton of bikes/trailers/trucks out there. Been meaning to roll down and ask what's up. Haven't done it.

It is near where Benchmark Rd. intersects Rt. 17... On the south side of 17, west of Rt.2.

Nothing I got for dirt is tagged.

Awesome....I have no idea where that place is, can you be a little more specific? I will swing by there the next time I am out on the 650.

Well, looking at a map....

17 runs east/west.

EAST of the Benchmark Rd. intersection where Benchmark comes in from NORTH to make a T with 17.... the trails are probably a wee bit EAST OF THAT LOCATION, on SOUTH side of 17, by a big building. Big huge open area you can't miss from 17. It is WEST of the 17/2 intersection....

Probably around Thornton Rolling Rd. area - SOUTH SIDE of 17.

Sorry if that doesn't help. I looked on maps.google with satellite images turned on, didn't help me a bit. If you want I'll show you. Need 2+ weeks to heal. Just snapped collar bone. I can drive there, can't ride there. Lemme' know.

For the love of God man, how did you do that? I will MQ the area and then head down there hopefully this weekend to lay eyes on the objective.

We used to ride at "Land Between the Lanes" from exit 140 north on I-95.

I understand that's not a great idea anymore.

Tucked the front of the supermoto at the Colonial Beach event. Rain + Slicks + waaay dumb grab on front brake by me = snapped collar bone. No biggie. I was overdue.

Hit my cell (540 287 2690) and I will roll down there if I'm able.

Yeah - I used to mountain bike that as well. All those trails are gone. My last house sits where those trails used to be. Sad, true.

I rolled out to the dirt area today while running errands.

Garmin shows a valid address as "9407 Crossroads Pky". That will get you to the road where there are obvious signs of dirt riding going on. Clearly burned in trails off the road, and at the end, up a long dirt hill after pavement ends.

I saw nobody out there today.

In the 95 median

There was a cool trail system between the N and S lanes of 95. You had to ride in the tunnel under the interstate. When you popped out on the inside of the highway, people driving by would have a cow. My uncle had a xr650 and he would take off when a car when by, then pass it and give them a "friendly" wave.

West of 17/2 looks like power lines

The area being described just west of 17/2 looks to be linked to overhead power lines, which are generally off limits (private property with easement to the power company). There's another set of trails just a bit west of there, on the east side of 95. South on Rt 1 from Massaponax, turn left on Massaponax Church Road, turn left on Hall Industrial Dr (50 feet after you go across 95), into cul-de-sac and viola, you're there! I haven't been there in several years, no idea who owns the property or how agressive they might be about trespassers. When I was there, it was a mix of quads and tagless bikes...

The place further south, I have been there, they were ticketing there years ago, believe it is still off-limits.

Stupid question...

I have a Nuvi 550, and when I hit "WHERE AM I" I got geocoords. However, when I recalled the spot in question later after saving, I got nothing but a dot on a map. No geocoords. WTF?
