Whats the real deal with these F800GS recalls??
The tenth number in my VIN is a 9 which supposedly indicates that it's a "Model Year 2009". However, by the VIN it also says "MFD: 0908", meaning it was manufactured in Sept. of 2008, right? The question is, do I need to worry about these recalls? Do they apply to my bike?

1) Run outside and yell, "The sky is falling . . ." 2) Await the notice form BMW that your vehicle is a part of a recall. 3) Call your dealer and inquire. 4) Go ride your darn bike and quit making a mountain out of a mole hole. 5) Continue to stir the pot and hope others will join your band wagon espousing the nerve of BMW to "not get it right", or "I'll never buy one of those again", or "I can't believe the engineers could possibly . . ." You get the idea. Now, quit and getting all . Go and

I thought his reply was quite helpful...considering the original question.

Although..... calling the dealer was good advice!
![]() I got it figured out. They informed me that that front axle tube recall is definitely for 08 MODEL YEAR bikes. Not 09 MODEL YEAR bikes. Regardless of when the bike was manufactured. The axle recall is for bikes that were manufactured to 08 MODEL YEAR specifications. FYI: It's important to note that the only bulletin out on the 09 MODEL YEAR bikes is a coolant line replacement. |

Yeah Grizzles, mine is an '09, even though I bought it in Oct '08. It's just like the world of automobiles, where the 2010 models will be out in april of '09. Or when I got my April/May issue of a magazine last week. Totally makes sense, yeah? And winter better get its ass out the door! This pretend to get warm for a day and then cold for a week thing is BS! Damned if I don't ride tomorrow. 46 is good enough for me.
