Wicked Going nowhere fast. Around Australia on pigs with wings.

YET ANOTHER LAP OF AUSTRALIA? Yeah baby!

FULL PHOTO ESSAY STARTS ON PAGE 6 (AT THIS LINK):

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=448543&page=6

But the story started here, with a few pre-departure and en-route posts. . .
Some people don't learn fast. Some people aren't as smart as you. Most people are, however, as smart as me. Smarter really. Which helps to explain why I'm doing this yet again. . .

On April 4, this coming Saturday, I and Phekg (whom I will refer to as P2 because he is not P1) will do what I have come to habitually do every couple of years: we'll run an inspection of the coast road, Hwy 1 - 12,000 miles of it this time. And we're going to get a whole 3 weeks to do it in!

We'll be posting as we go (time and internet permitting), and fill in a report when we get our asses back to where we started from.

Here's a bit of the prelim work I've done so far. . .

New rubber everywhere. Nice Tourances, which last better than most. . .

Hmm. Sargent seat is not bad, but can you be too comfy?

Tent poles mounted in a tube inside pannier frame. . .

Abrasion protection for the tankbag seat. . .

High density rubber pad So bags wont wear through if strapped on the back. . .

Handguard extensions (homemade of course), because it always rains. A lot.

Oh, and Promecha revalved shocks f&r, plus a new spring. Works too!

So there you go. The countdown begins. 4 days to go. Three weeks, two pigs, 1 lap of Australia.

Mate, this is definitely the sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains. Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.

In the last month, we've had the worst bushfires on record in Australia, killing over 170 people and scorching millions of hectares of land. At the same time, people made homeless in the north by the worst floods on record donated their emergency relief fund cheques to the survivors of the fires.

Yes, it rains.

Nev, you know it! Not sure what this report will be like though: you've done one lap you've done 'em all. Isn't that right?

Here is some of the mess I am making at home this week trying to get ready in between work and drinking with mates!

And it's true, not all laps are the same. Clockwise sucks.

P2 will be staying at my place Friday night, so maybe we'll get some pics of his mods and special purchases then. I just discovered I got way too much space - better go and find more junk to carry. . .
