Grab

This one was too close, despite promising myself I wouldn't tagorama this week due to time, I had to grab it. 8 minutes round trip

DJ Feathers Aviary in Chantilly. quite the appropriate place for a gator

The gator is back again in the GPS mount...

New tag coming soon. After Ali has dinner with the family.

Donny is fast!

I had hoped to post this before the new Ali grab came up. Oh well.

Man driving around here in traffic is a zoo! Anyway, enough venting, Ali had a talk with me at dinner.

Donny, heshe said, I'm tired of being put at all these speedways, hysterical markers, embassys, airports, daycare centers, museums, correctional centers, boat docks, cabooses, so on and so on. It was like that guy in Forrest Gump talking about the shrimp. I want to be in my element heshe said. So, taking pity in the little plastic thing I brought him here.

Don't worry I didn't toss him over there with those animals This _ _ _ is in a town that was initially owned by Lord Fairfax during the 18th century. It's now a planned community by Robert E. Simon and was founded on April 20, 1964.

Gates close at 6 so the tag shot is just outside the gate: TAG SHOT

From where you take the tag shot, turn around 180 and you'll see this sign. Ali is located in the bush, looks like yucca or aloe,

It's facing the road (which btw is not a bad ride at all on a bike) so I hid him pretty good. Ali was stoked

Bruce'd!

But of course I knew that before I left.

So after getting the required pic I head west on Rt. 50, picked up Pleasant Valley and drove out to Braddock Road where I'd seen an interesting looking access road running along the power line right of way. (Taken afterwords.)

This rapidly became a bad idea. (You can see just how bad of an idea by looking at how far my tracks go in this picture!)

So I made my escape...

And examined the aftermath.

Mud/sand is way too exciting. (When I was trying to turn around I had about 2 inches of goop on my feet. I'm amazed the bike didn't sink in it.)

So I headed back down Braddock to find the end of Bull Run Post Office Road...

There was lots of this on the part north of Cedar Ridge.

I had to stop and turn around to get a picture of this FFF.

And later, I turned around for these.

They really aren't at all afraid of vehicles. I drove right up to them and took the pictures with the engine running. If they were in season and I had a tag, and hunting from the road were legal it would have been an easy shot, even with a pistol.

And thats my "Adventure Brucing/Tag Scouting" report.

No... I think its more "dumb things."

I think the mud would have been a non-event on a ~250cc dual sport.

Its crazy on a 550lb wallowing pig.

Next time I'll remember what rain does to the ground before heading down "interesting" looking gravel roads.

If I take my kid there tomorrow and he makes the grab on his big wheel, does it count?

I'm not sleeping too well and debating a 2am grab. Not sure I want to risk the drunks and deer at his hour.

Grab! (Reston Zoo)

After exposing Butters to strong but ultimately futile temptation to go on a night time grab, we agreed to meet up this morning for a little joint Ali-Gator safari.

He does, indeed, have a nice bike!

My only shot of the bikes without Butters in the frame was all blurry. Hopefully he's got a more tag worthy shot.

Animals

This guy seemed kind of pissed off. (I was standing up on the guard rail.)

Mmmm... Beef.

Tag!

This wasn't too far of a ride but I've wanted to get this photo for a while now.

A little further back (tag shot.)

Gator is hiding at the top of the arch. You'll need to bribe the guy in the security office by the front entrance and he'll let you sneak up the freight elevator to the top balcony. Watch your step!

Just kidding. Gator is hidding at the back of this potted shrub.

I joked with MND that I was surprised he didn't want to put it on top of the arch. I probably shouldn't have said that because I could see the wheels started churning. I think MND is the motorcyclist's motorcyclist - the kind of guy who would start riding and find himself soaking his toes in the Pacific 4 days later.

And yes, he put the full court press on me at 2am about doing a night grab. When I woke up this morning I was expecting a new tag to have been planted by him already.

Toilet bowl building!

Awesome tag.

Too bad I'm on kid duty today... but actually I enjoy that as well.

We pulled the rear wheel of the 'Tard together - what a PITA with 17" wheels getting around the rear brake caliper. The toddler learned a few new words that she better forget before mom comes home.
