It was good to visit with Ali, even though the little buggar does have some sharp teeth. Ali was thankful for a nice warm place to sleep, but in the am I told Ali we had to move. Today was a very important day in very recent US History. A day that I for one will never forget. So Ali and I talked about where a good hiding spot would be.

Pentagon - Doesn't allow camera's. I was there last Sunday and it is a very nice memorial. Don't think we need anyone getting picked up for violating their rules

WTC Site - Outside of the tag zone. A place I also visited recently to remember a very good friend of mine.

Pennsylvania Site - Outside of the tag zone. A place I do plan to visit in the near future.

Some other things we could look at... TSA and the DHS were created directly as a result of 9/11... Hmmmm, The HQ is in Pentagon City, National Airport is nearby. That got us thinking. And since Ali likes trains so much, we took the Crystal clear appoach and visited a train station, near a nice water park (not for playing in though). It was in close proximity (A few blocks away) to both the Pentagon and the TSA HQ.

So off we went.

It is hard to see, but Ali is on the back of the bike:

Entance to the train station (last stop in VA BTW):

Here is Ali:

BTW, this is in the heart of the RLD!

Thank you for remembering. Today's weather is exactly like that very sad day 11 years ago.

It has been something of surreal day for me. More so than years past.

In honor of the day, I rested Ali on my MCM shirt from the October 2001 race. I still remember running past that blackened, gaping hole in the Pentagon, and the armed helicopters that followed the race overhead. . ..

Tag to follow.

I was looking for an appropriate memorial tag, and found this Heritage Park. Jamie' son, from Holland, is very close by.

Ok, if no one gets this today, I'm getting it tonight when I get off of work. Which will be later than I like.

No time to head into the heart of the RLD. Too busy readying my fancy bike for cross country pub crawl.

I was going to go for this last night, but was almost out of gas and decided to limp it home to the wife so we could go to Ikea instead.

However, I'm still at work, so there is still hope for me to get this tonight.

Tag and Grab

I finally got off of work and decided to head down and say "Hi" to Ali.

Ali was exceptionally happy to see me and popped out of the foliage to give me a big ol' toothy greeting.

We found Jamie from Holland, they had their name tags on.

Then, of course, Ali wanted a photo on my bike with the tag site in the background.

Ali was starting to act like Haley Joel Osment in the Sixth Sense since there was a nearby cemetery. I see "Dead People" Ali kept saying.

I told Ali of a place where there might be another cemetery near a village of miniature people (referred to as Minnie's) by the local sign. The Cardinal rule for this place was that you had to abide by the Primitive Baptist Church rules.

Ali was still a little out of it from seeing "Dead People", but gave me the go ahead. On our way there we talked about a historical road sign that was there too. It talked about the Minnie village and how one of the folks Ali may see would be the first biographer of George Washington and how troops moved through that area to Yorktown. The site also had the Minnie Village Post Office from 1884 to 1924.

Here is a street light base, Ali decided to crawl under that.

Ali is covered up by some grass clippings.

Here is another photo for reference.

Happy Tagging!
