His tent right over the bank just past the guardrail. Pretty hard to see unless you're right on top of it.

Grab. Gemini way, Dale City, between Dale blvd and Minnievale. Pics to follow.

Tag is set. Ali is holding court in Camelot just a few miles away.

Ali was located being guarded by the watchful eyes of a couple of PW County's finest. Since the squad car was parked just a few yards in front of Ali I figured I should warn the officer that I'm not crazy. I'm just some fully grown adult digging in the shrubs on a rainy winter's day looking for a toy alligator near a homeless guy's tent.

So after my wife posted my bail . . .

Ali was located in the Southwest (?) corner of the large parking lot behind the Giant on Gemini Way, in Dale City.

Ali didn't travel far, less than 10 miles and only 3 turns (Right, Right, Uturn) from Gemini Way. I was feeling adventurous and wanted to hide the cache in a castle. What better castle than Camelot? I have to admit, I was a little underwhelmed when I actually saw it. I guess books and movies take a bit of poetic license in their descriptions:

I didn't see any dragons or even a moat to protect the gator. But I did see a bush to hide Ali (still in the box) that was full of monstrous thorns.

(Wow, this thread is approaching 10,000 posts!)

Nice job Butters!

I was just talking with my bride on tagging that exact location! Now I have to get out in this weather and get Ali!

At a computer now, easier to post. Today's grab was a ride-in-the-dark. From Butters' directions, I guessed the tag must be on 234, and some google-fu of camelot and prince william county showed a neighborhood called camelot on 234. But I never saw the "castle" on streets. Today's temps made that lack of info less important. . ..

I journeyed up 234 to the Mt. Jackson area, and thought I was in about the right place. But still saw nothing. I had a PW marked car behind me for a bit -- he must have been wondering why I was going less than the speed limit with my head on a swivel.

Just as I was about to abandon the search I saw it. U-turned as Butters had indicated, and the grab was made. For the tag to be, the box had surrendered to the elements -- it is indeed nicely decorated and I have retained it for possible return if requested, but you won't find it between the rocks.

One last note -- get a bike ez-pass for Virginia. I've had the chance to ride in the hot lanes lately. Empty. Completely empty. And free for motorcycles. . ..

I just talked with the DMV ( 1-877-762-7824 ); was told: You don't need no stinkin' E-Z Pass account nor transponder to ride a motorcycle for free on the new I-495 zip lanes.

(Dulles Greenway may be another matter.)

The helpful lady (also a motorcyclist, she told me) urged extreme caution when riding on the new express lanes with a bike, because of the accident rate from the new traffic patterns, especially at the system's new ramps transitioning from the traditional traffic flow.

Hard to believe (that motorcycles enjoy free access without transponder or account), but . . . that's my story, when I receive my violation letter!

The fine folks at DMV EZ-PASS told me I needed a VA ez-pass for the motorcycle, but the hot lanes won't register the toll for the motorcycle. Go figure.

The lanes I've been on have been completely open, like, open track coming off T17 at VIR in the lead open track -- I felt sort of guilty.

XDragRacer gets the prize for the 10,000th post in the NoVA TOR thread! Wadya win???

I'm not sure who the current keeper of the map is, but I noticed the one in people's links stops at tag 1000. I assume that's a google limit. Is there a current map elsewhere?

Go to the FAQ's for the express lanes to check . . . . no transponder required, and if you have one, you're not supposed to be charged.

Yuppers, totally free, just like the HOV lanes.

Dulles toll road/greenway still needs a transponder, but if you call the EZ Passs folks and ask for a motorcycle only transponder, the tolls are supposed to be less. Dunno, never check the balance . . . .

I just took advantage of this last week! First time and no funny flashing blue lights are notices in my mailbox.
