Grab!

Old Linden Rd and Tomahawk Way in Linden, VA.

Came in from the out of bounds side through some of the goat paths. Nice riding on that hill.

New Tag

Found an out of the way spot near an old duped tag site. Couldn't resist seeing what was down the road given it's name.

Ali is at the base of the pole at the top rear of the livestock chute.

Here:

Turn at this sign:

Go past this building and over the railroad tracks:

Watch out for the dogs!

Tag site is about a half mile down on the left. I was hoping that it was a through road, but it's a dead end. Definitely a lost corner of the world. Very peaceful back here.

Grab! Lost Corner Rd, Delaplane, VA

Very nice tag, a road definitely lost in time. I will have to go back.

Near stump, under rock, marked with an "A", like so:

Bonus view from tag to sign:

The clue: Ali and I did not see a bull on the mountain, but we did find the road where I wanted to tag in post 11279 (The clue: Ali was hungry, and wanted to make a run. ).

Happy tagging!

Grab; Bull Run Mountain Road at Hungry Run Road!

Weird, Twilight Zone-type scenario!

I found the gator (I thought) under a brick, marked by an "A," as shown:

Excavated the reptile and put it aside (I thought); then, inserted a copy of the tag image under the brick, for the benefit of any Bruced inmate.

I reached for Ali, to make the requisite "grab" image, but . . . no Ali!

I began to wonder; did I actually SEE the gator when I moved the brick, or did I mistake a stick or a stone of similar size and shape for the creature?

Did I put the gator in my POCKET, while I salted the tag site with the picture? If so, WHICH, of the 97 pockets of my riding ensemble, contains the alligator?

Abandoning all pride, I began to root in the underbrush like hog in search of acorns, seeking the green gator. Nothing doing.

Went back to the bike, removed jacket, vest, hydration pack; frisked every pocket in upper garments and in pants; no gator!

Went back to the tag site and rooted further, turning over roots and leaves and rocks and twigs and snake-sized fishing worms . . . looked in tire ruts, ditch (did I KICK the mascot out of the way?), road surface . . . no gator!

About decided to take some local pictures, and turn myself in:

If no one reported a grab (I COULD have been Bruced, only IMAGINING I saw the gator when I turned over the brick), deploy a stunt-double, and let the game go on.

Just before I decided to leave the scene of the disappointment, I saw what looked like the sinuous curve of an alligator's tail . . . it WAS Ali, intermixed with all sorts of debris, decaying vegetation and stones closely matching Ali's coloration and complexion, located actually ABOVE the brick resting place, on the shoulder away from the roadway!

Shaken, somewhat, but happy, I embraced Ali and packed him with the utmost care, after recording the reunion for posterity:

As we rode away, Ali said, "I know now what they call that place, 'Hungry' Run! I'm STARVING!"

"No problem; I'll take you where they have your favorite dish--lots of fresh, raw, fish!"

We stopped at this establishment:

We entered the restaurant; the headwaiter approached.

"Table for two," I said.

The maitre d' looked closely at Ali. I began to wonder, do they have a, "No Alligators Allowed," policy here?

The headwaiter then smiled and exclaimed, "Arigato!"

I said, "Yes, well, we pronounce the reptile species more like, 'alligator.'"

Our host then repeated his pronunciation, "Arigato!"

"Whatever," I said, as we sat at our linen-covered table and enjoyed our meal of octopus, squid, and assorted raw fish.

This tree is nearest the door at 11199A, street address of the restaurant:

Ali now rests under the "A," white paper pinned to the mulch with a stick, as an aid to location and identification:

No grabbers?

Maybe it's too HOT!

If the location's any puzzle still to anyone, bonus clue:

After the headwaiter's greeting, Ali said, "From this restaurant's location, I'd expect that guy to speak GERMAN! Sounds like Japanese, to me!"

Nice grab!

On the new tag, no objections here! Been a wee bit on the disgustingly humid side for me!

Clearly, we ain't in no race, Boatman!

Reconciling the bonus clue, Ali's tag site was near GERMANtown Road.

Fine grab!
