No, I didn't see a HEADLESS HORSEMAN ride down this street, but . . . one might be expected (q.v., Washington Irving, The Legend of ------ ------.)

Ever hear of, "buffalo soldiers?" The Indians called US cavalrymen, "buffalo soldiers," because . . . oh, never mind!

Then, surely, you know of Buffalo wings, right? Spicy chicken wings you might enjoy with drinks in your bar-and-grill or restaurant.

Now, Buffalo wings have nothing to do with the American bison (advertising logos notwithstanding). Similarly, there were once Buffalo soldiers in our midst here in northern Virginia with no connection to the ungulates whose name they shared (soldiers who capitalized, "Buffalo").

Ali rests at the historic site of these Buffalo soldiers' fort.

Caution: CUT NO CORNERS when pursuing this tag; you must contend with at least SEVEN.

Great grab!

Much longer there, and Ali would have taught those Buffalo soldiers to sing, "Dixie!"

The Clue:

This park is a peaceful riverside garden in an old town where the public can stroll along the shore, walk their dogs, play volleyball, have a picnic and enjoy the flowers and greenery of Northern Virginia. You might expect to find the founders here.

Happy Tagging!

(don't think this is a dupe, but not certain, as my NoVa map isn't showing the prior tags. . ..)

I had some sweet spots in mind but I think they are on Columbia Island which is technically DC. All you CC guys wouldn't like it much.

Ali is located to the left of the image in the holly bush underneath this rock.

That's within striking distance from my work! Perhaps a lunch time run is in order...

HBN, outstanding! Hadn't seen your new tag, could be interesting to investigate.
On Columbia Island, i go by the NoVa tag boundary blue line, so to my eye it looks to be in play.

TH, glad to see the post!

GRAB! Tag to follow after I get off work...

Found Ali at: 38.884937,-77.062805 aka Memorial Drive near Jefferson Davis Highway

Ok, Ali was very happy to get picked up, but was rather upset with me for my "neglect" of said Alligator/Croc...

I told and persuaded Ali to go with me. Ali reluctantly agreed, but I also promised Ali that I would try and make it interesting while I slaved away at work, trying to keep our newly arrived auditors at bay.

Photo's:

Right after I pulled up, before I found Ali and where I was wondering if I was too late and would suffer a "Brucing":

A good photo of the Seabee's Statue.

Finally one with Ali on the bike

As soon as I got back to my office, I put Ali in my "In" basket. But I also showed Ali around, as when I left the office I told several folks I was going to save an Alligator. I got the normal "He's rides a motorcycle, he's crazy look." So I "validated" my quick departure and re-emergence from the wilds of DC and very close in VA.

Ali asked to go for an elevator ride. We went up and down several times. Annoying little critter.

Then Ali saw a wonderful spot to rest. I told Ali that wasn't an appropriate place. Security or someone may take you away if you sit there. What belongs here? Ali asked. It was a sculpture that broke. That's why there is nothing there right now.

Ali then asked if I was hunger, I said yes. So off to Jimmy Johns we went. The place of the 20 second sub. I don't how they make them so fast, but they do.

Ali saw a sign on the wall... Ali just laughed so loud and hard that everyone started staring at me. "You have to be kidding, all of those don't are normal for me. This must be an uncivilized place!" With that I stuffed Ali back in my pocket, trying to avoid all of those sharp teeth, and went back to my office. I'm not going to be embarrassed by a snotty nosed little Alligator/Croc....

Of course Ali wanted my sandwich and guarded it, that was until I stuff Ali into my pocket.

Tag to come this evening.

Very nice. . ..

I told the kids last evening that I was going tagging . . . they said "it's been a while, hasn't it?"

Weather has supremely sucked, glad to have had the chance to ride in only 88 degree weather.

Except for my recent vacations, I've ridden to work and back almost every day. It is one step removed from riding in a blast furnace. As long as I'm moving, it's ok. But as soon as I stop, it got hot, quickly.

Today, riding to get Ali during lunch time, with the reduced temps and humidity, it felt great!

Yeah I hear that! I'm only going through a half bottle of water now instead of a whole one on the ride in

Tag! Ali wanted to be safe and secure, but close to place that would provide entertainment via a fair in the coming weeks. It may be a dupe, but Ali wanted to hide out.

The pictures should be clue enough. I'm doing this via tapatalk, so my editing capabilities are limited. Unless of course you want to go racing across the street.

The bike shots. Building in the background is a clue.

An American Legion marker. Though I didn't see any evergreen trees.

Ali is behind the marker, under the A.
