Outstanding! Weather radar suggests that you weathered some thunderstorms. Hope you all stayed dry. . ..

The "stream" the ford is on is the Rappahannock river, the boundary between Rappahannock and Fauquier counties. Ali is/was in bounds by a good 10-15'. You just couldn't access the tag spot without going out of bounds.

The last time I set the original Ali on that road, on the other end(North), the tag was about 30' out of bounds.

Couple-o-drops. Not enough to turn the wipers on. We've weathered far worse.

Two times you ask? Yes, when I turned onto Fiery Run and had gone about 1/4 mile I came upon two mid-late twenties women riding horses. As I approached one of the horses became spooked by the mighty GS so I cut it off and waited for them to ride up into a nearby driveway. As I approached the horse became agitated again so I turned it off and pushed by them. They were very appreciative..but not that appreciative. Neither one gave me their phone number.
There are two fiery run roads off of 55 not far from each other, and they don't connect. One of them heads down to Hume Road and is a great ride. I don't know who came up with the idea of naming two non-connected roads near to each other with the same name.

The north end (of state maintenance) of Withers Mill Road looked like this, today:

And,

Ali wasn't there!

The GPS Lady thought we could approach Ali from Hume Road on Withers Mill Road, staying out of Rappahannock County, but . . . apparently she was unaware of the private property and locked gates issues involved!

Where is the grab photo of your bike on the Fauquier side of the river?

Anyone want to go explore inside some of the unused buildings at Lorton Prison?

Because I was absolutely terrified, petrified, when faced with the possibility of the treacherous fast-water crossing, across those impossibly slippery rocks . . . didn't want to risk dropping the KLR650 "where the rippling water flows!"

My KLR250 wouldn't start this morning; on that bike I might have chanced it. I deferred to Tupperware and his mighty KLR250 to do the honors; however, I watched him gyre and gimbel in the stream on his relatively lightweight bike, as his rear tire spun for minutes, as he tried to surmount a 4" ledge (hey, I SAID it was slick!).

I extend regard to the tagger, who made the placement in this hostile environment, IN THE DARK!

Also, your advice, "Stay to the right," was well-said: The left rut looked neo-impassable, from my safe perch on the bank.
