Just picked up two Remington 1400 round buckets at $65 each from Academy. Took my dad with me so he bought one and I bought one. I'll be good on .22 for awhile.
Edit: thanks to me and my monkee for the heads up. :Sent from my Samsung Note 10.1

One of the things I seriously dislike about mail order shopping is getting the wrong damn things....
So, I've decided to set up my Marlin with a big scope to use at the range and later this summer on Rocky the squirrel...so I go to Cabela's and find a Nikon scope, not cheap but should be good, 3-9x40, and order a set of rings for it - noting that C. only carries two brands of 1" .22 sized rings. I of course get the wrong ones....now, this could have been avoided by a simple line drawing showing me how tall the rings are, since it's obvious that with a 40 mm scope, your rings need to be at least a half an inch high... So, I've got this terrific scope, a sightless .22 and another package on the way, since I drove to three sporting goods stores and could not source anything that might work so that I can shoot this weekend. Damn, I hate that about mail order.

I looked at one at Gander Mountion this week. I have to say I was not impressed with the fit and finish for the price of $449. I have a 60's era 24 in .22/20 Ga. and its one of my favorites. I have always wanted another in 22 mag/20 or the ultra rare 30.06/12 Ga.

I had no idea ADV had a rimfire thread! I need to get out more. Bout a month ago, a riding buddy of mine was looking for a 22. His son is 12 and is signed up for Hunter Safety. I told him I may have one for sale. After a modest hee and hawing period, I sold him my Remington 552 Speedmaster. So long old girl,,
So I took the money he gave me, and added some to it, and reinvested in (yawn) a Ruger 10/22 Walnut Mannlicher Stainless. Gander Mountain had it in stock. ![]() I put this Weaver 2.5 on it that was way in the back of the gunsafe. ![]() I am very pleased with this purchase-it is fun to shoot but needs some trigger work done. I have only put about 100 rounds through it with 5 different types of ammo with no jams or malfunctions yet. I dont miss the tubular magazine on the 552 one bit. I bought a Butler Creek Steel Lips 25 round magazine from Cabelas. It is clear so one can see how many rounds are left-kinda cool for this old fart. |

Your 10/22 Mannlicher is cool. I have one that was made in 1975 and I love it.

Okay, so far the Butler Creek magazine loader is a disappointment.

That is some fine wood on that Ruger. Years past Ruger put their best wood on the No. 1's. That seems to be not the case anymore. |

Bought a Bersa Thunder .22 yesterday.
The GF carries a CZ 50 .32 ACP. ![]() Almost exactly alike, both are PPK knockoffs. She likes to shoot and the .22 will be cheaper than the .32 to shoot. That is if I can find some .22 ammo......... These 2 guns have the same weight and feel so it should be natural for her....
