I put a screw-in along swivel on my 10/22 TD, dabbed some JB weld for extra peace of mind. So far so good :-)

Well, the stock came in today, and it is beautiful, except. . .
on the left foregrip there is a 1" x 8" place where two pieces of walnut were laminated together to form the bump for the foregrip, and this is really poorly laminated. Whoever put those pieces of wood together needs glasses, or a seeing eye dog! There is no attempt to match the grain of the wood, the two pieces are different shades of brown, it's sad.
I put a complaint in through Ebay, and I'll see what happens. Hopefully they can and will do an exchange.
Really disappointed.

Sorry about the lack of twatwaffle and cockholster in this rant, I just can't get up the enthusiasm right now.
So Mike sent me another stock, and I sent the nasty one back to him. I spoke to him on the phone, and he said he had noticed the "area" when he packed it for shipping, but didn't consider it a defect.
Anyway, problem solved.

Speaking of .22 rifles that breakdown, I figured my Neos carbine would work just fine. the longer piece, barrel and weaver mount, is 20"

Fitted into a 42" soft rifle case, folded and mounted to the back of the bike for a trip to the range

Going to work on finding a case that fits/looks better

DAMN YOU!

This never occurred to me, and now I really want the Carbine kit.

.22 LR is on the shelves again

at the local Ace Hardware store. Nifty little cans (325 rounds) of Federal ammo, waterproof/weatherproof and packaged in nitrogen for long term storage. The price has gone up from a year ago: $25/can. One can per customer.
Might have to go back tomorrow...

Picked this up today, been wanting a MKII for a long time. Not sure I like the red dot on the pistol, but am going to find a set of stock sights for it.

I think that you will really like the MkII Competition Target. I got mine many years ago, at some point I changed the trigger and now the only way I'd consider parting with it would have to involve a S&W 41.
I have been spending quite a bit of time with my club's MkIIIs (22/45) and can't say that I like them as well. Perhaps I am just too old to embrace change but the new guns, with all the added 'safety features' appear to be a little too fussy. I brought home a handful of 'dud' cartridges from Sunday's Youth program, kind of interested to try them in my guns and see if they really are duds. We seem to be having quite a few 'misfires' with the MkIIIs, the guys on the rifle range are using (as far as I know) the same ammo but not reporting problems. We'll see.
Enjoy the new gun, Ruger had sight set's on their website but I don't recall if they were currently in stock (I was looking for a friend who picked up a "Hunter' model, thinking about more 'conventional' sights for it).

Anyone have some S&W 22A grips laying around? I've got the beastly wooden target grips, but want to run the gun with thinner grips for awhile.

Eventually, when I stop spending money on bike stuff I'll be buying a .22 suppressor and am looking forward to threading my 22A. Should be an awesome "toy".

I do have a standard 22A with the black grips. With my big hands I would actually love the beastly wooden target grips. Interested in a trade? maybe with some boot added on my end if need be.

It's gopher season here and my son and I did a little shooting yesterday.
I had my father in law's old (beat up) Winchester lever and my son used
an ancient Browning pump.
Sorry, no pics but the pump was given to us by a relative who had it for years. It's got the ribbed fore end and the rounded pistolgrip on the stock.
It's stamped Fabrique Nationale and .22 long.

The thing is in sorry shape but it shoots well with shorts for a 70 or so year old gun.
